Beautiful colors--thanks for the scans, Laura. I'm especially taken by the Yama-budo. I'm hoping I can get a bottle thrown in with a pen order without increasing shipping too much.

They are beautiful, but I don't think I'd ever use them. I like my Kon-peki.

Saw them last week in Kobe. The colors are amazing, I wanted to buy them all, but I'm saving for my X-Mas trip. I think my favourite was Yu-yake.

 

I don't correct much in Japan, I use to grade paper in orange back in Canada.

Exactly my thoughts. I expected Yu-yake to be a nice substitute for Caran'd'Ache Saffron, but now...Anyway I'll decide when I see some more writing samples.

Yu-yake is quite close to Caran d'Ache Saffron, but warmer. Yu-yake dries to a much more subdued shade of that orange. Much prettier than Saffron, IMO.

 

It's closer to Apache Sunset, but nowhere near as saturated and without the red overtones. Yu-yake doesn't have the magical variation that Apache Sunset has, but it has subtle shading and is very nice on the page. I really like it, it's a great orange - bright, but not screaming like some orange inks (Diamine Orange, for example).

 

Momiji is an unusual pink-red that became a favourite right away... these are really nice inks!

In my limited experience of orange inks, the Yu-yake seems to be an earth tone version of J. Herbin Orange Indien, maybe even a cross between Orange Indien and Ambre de Birmanie. But my color perceptions are so bad ... All of the colors are lovely.

 

Does anyone have an English translation for these colors?

I just received there yesterday along with my Myu90 and inked it with yama-budo. It's a great colour - just dark enough to not be totally out of place in an office environment but unusual enough to stand out.

How does it compare to MB Violet? It looks like a close match.

Love that Yama-budo, but I think it's probably a little too vibrant for regular use for me. Bit of a curse, really. I've also got a bottle of Dragon Napalm which is a lovely color but just sits around because I'm not sure what to do with it.

 

Now, if only I were a teacher, I could mark with it... :hmm1: That's probably not a very good reason to get into teaching, is it? "I wanted to use my inks!"

Phthalo, I'm curious, how do you do your swabs. I really like the fact that we see shading which did not come up when I did paper swabs...

Always lovely colors, and wonderful swabs. I see that you don't use q-tips (not my favorite), but what do you use? A small paint brush?
