A new pen I am making for Karin

That is a nice bright piece of acrylic. Is the section from a Schaffer? It's hard to tell with the glare on the nib.

That will make a nice pen.

Wow!!!! This is the future owner of Karin's pen. :puddle: :cloud9:

I've been fortunate in seeing some of Chris's other handiwork close up and personal. He is a master craftsman, and a heck of a nice fellow too.

The nib is from one of my Sheaffer Balance II's.

Thanks so much for giving me a sneak peak. :)

No not at the mixing stage as of yet. Got it from one of the craft supply stores in the states. I could dig up paperwork if you need.

Good to see you still reading the boards :) , if not posting nearly as much as you used to :(

Agreed! Chris is very talented and a very generous person, too. I am the proud owner of a red-barrelled-black-capped Hughes pen myself :D

The nib is from one of my Sheaffer Balance II's.

Great choice for a nib-section unit! I think the nibs are very nice and I like the shape of the sections, too.

Wonderful work, Chris! :clap1:

Enjoy your new pen, Karin!

Chris, just gave my wife a peek at your handiwork. She complimented you on the beautiful pen and the fact it was a gift to your wife Karen.

Hey, let's not start something on here where I'm explaining myself more often, ok? :-)

My best,

Paul

Chris isn't married to Karin, but I think both Karin and Chris would find the idea highly amusing....

It *is* a beautiful pen, though.... I wish my husband would pick out and buy me a fountain pen, instead of just letting me buy my own :crybaby:

I ordered a vintage Sheaffer section from the USA and once I will get it I plan to give the section to Chris to build me a Green Ebonite ED pen. This will be my first pen turner pen and from seeing phisicly his work I am sure this will be a stunner.

Chris expect a call from me any day.

Hi Maja,

I'm still around, lurking mostly, but also glad to read your posts. :bunny01:

I'll be picking up "Karin's pen" on Nov 22nd at our pen club meeting.

I do. :roflmho: :clap1: :ltcapd:

Not sure if Chris would though. I've met his significant other and she is a charming, beautiful woman.

Not that I'm not charming and beautiful, but ........ :roflmho: Let's just say to all my new friends on FPN, that I'm a lot older than Chris

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
