Removing Ink stains

I've never had any success using Amodex to remove an ink stain from fabric. I've followed the instructions to the letter. So what else have you used? Is there a another comercial remover which works better? Home made solutions ?

I've had success using Palmolive Ultra with Oxy and Bleach Alternatives dish detergent. I put it on the stain and rubbed it in. I've used my fingernail, and I've used a brush to rub it in. After brushing it in I left it overnight. The next day I put a little water the stain and brushed it again. Next I put it in the wash and used Tide with Bleach Alternatives. I have removed ink stains from shirts and pants with this method.

Dawn dishawshing liquid with bleach alternative, OxiClean powder and a small amount of water all rubbed into the spot. Leave overnight and wash as usual.

Be true to the music.

Au contraire, I have had success with Amodex removing ink stains.

It was non-bulletproof turquoise ink from a white cotton denim jacket.

It took MANY re-applications.

Another preparation you might try is called Kiss-Off. It comes in a stick

that you rub on.

Got any tricks for getting four bottles of ink out of a mattress? See Inky thoughts post.

I had very good luck with just a spray of Oxi-Clean, waiting 10 minutes, then into the washer with Arm and Hammer laundry detergent. This was on Diamine Amaranth. I think it's harder to get a stain out after the item has all ready been washed though.

I showed a very nice Japanese gentleman a Parker Junior button filler and as I showed him how to fill it I pressed down on the button. He was wearing a very nice gray silk sports jacket..which now had Watermans Royal Blue ink up and down the sleeve and lapel. While I was apologizing my wife looked up ink stains on the internet and returned to our sales counter with a glass of milk. 2% I believe. The Japanese gentleman allowed the application and to my amazement..and his...the ink stain disappeared. I informed him that he should have it cleaned as the milk might attract cats and he smiled and said "I like Cheese". I sold him 3 pens including the Parker Junior RHR with a little less ink. When I asked him why he bought the Parker button filler he smiled and said "Good Memory"...try the milk it saved my a--.

Dress shirts make great pajama tops when you get ink stains.

I'm a 19 neck, 38 sleeve, so they would be more than enough for most people.

Milk works every time, skim milk or whole milk. Soak the material overnight, then launder as usual. Don't know how you would handle an ink-stained mattress, though.

Lamy blue'd myself last week - you know the cap that I've stated never comes off? well.. it did get caught - sort of..

Whink removed to a less noticable shadow, in two washings. Will have to give the milk trick a try next time.

iow's > whink doesn't work on ink

  • 1 month later...

Today I inked my pocket (where the clip connects the pen to the pocket). Put a napkin inside the pocket to keep from seeping further/behind the pocket and hit it lightly while still wet with a Tide to go pen. LIGHTLY the first time because if done while ink still wet (which I recommend) the ink will bleed into a larger stain as it spreads with the liquid from the stain remover pen. Then let dry and repeat 2-3 times. BAM. No stain.

Incidentally, if you bleed on your shirt collar after a rush shaving job the tide to go pen will fix you up there as well. Happy writing, shaving, inking, and bleeding all!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
