I found the MB Green to be a bit more lighter when dry.Used a Starwalker with the cartridge, perhaps the bottled ink might work out darker.

Sincerest Regards

Excellent review, one of my favourites.

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

One of my favorite non-black inks, but I would like to try Stipula Verde Muschiato and compare this two inks.

IMHO......

MB Racing Green is a Green/Black, drying darker with a wetter wider nib.

Stipula Verde Muschiato is Green/Brown, truly more of what I would call "Moss"

I have, love and use both! But they are different.

Busy this weekend at work..but I'll try and do a color/writing sample at some point.

One of Montblanc's best contributions to this little world of ours.

And discontinued now. My local stationers had it on their last order and were politely told there was none avaialble. It has been discontinued. :gaah:

Pity too, it's one of my favourite inks and I only have a half bottle left.

If you love it and it's available at your local shop you might want to pick up a couple bottles.

Yeah, I picked up the last bottle they had at my local ink-trough.

My favorite ink store seems to have some bottles left (Ortloff in the city center of Cologne), I'm going to try that ink before it's gone.

I bought it today - very nice! Very understated, but with some nice shading. This could make it into heavy rotation. There still are four bottles at the store I bought it at...maybe I should stockpile...

I posted a good scan of this a couple of years ago; I like the ink, but it has two problems:

1. I get tired of it and it starts looking like the color of a dead lizard's belly, and

2. It tends to go bad (for those of you who like to hoard). It goes bad, developes SITB and smells like... dead lizard. I've already flushed two bottles.

I solved problem 1. by adding some Noodler Zhivago to it for depth.

I solved problem 2. by ceasing to hoard, in the idealistic belief that there will always be another dead-lizard green fountain pen ink (see Michael Richter's recent post in that regard...).

Do NOT stockpile Montblanc BRG. It goes bad. Use it and enjoy it, and buy another. If it gets discontinued, there will be a substitute somewhere.

Thanks for the warning. But I'm curious, do you have any idea why this could've happened? Did anybody else experience this? I see you're in Israel, what kind of climate do you have where you live? I guess it's pretty hot and dry there, I initially suspected it might happen in more humid climate.

P.S.: You mean Michael's post about Sailor Tokiwa Mat, right? Interesting, hopefully missing pen has those, must investigate...

Thanks again.

He's telling that only because he want's to get more of this ink! :roflmho:

Nah, it could be possible - the smell of BRG is VERY different from other MB inks, mybe they just squeezed out some grass...

It seems to smell differently than any of my other inks - but that applies to each of my inks.

BTW: Anyone ever try mixing it with R&K Alt-Goldgrün?

:hmm1:That's good to know. I was going to stockpile a bottle or two - can't find any in town any longer though so that issue is solved.

I figured there'd be another ink around that was close, or someone would come up with an ink recipe sooner or later.

I find I'm using PR Avacado and Noodler Zhivago diluted at the moment anyway. Neither has that dusty olive colour, but Zhivago diluted with a bit of water gives quite a nice dark green/black.

If any Sydneysiders (Australia) are looking for this ink, Mont Blanc in Pitt Street currently have a few bottles in stock. This is the first time in literally >9 months. I bought one and love it.
