Heaviest pen

I am looking for the heaviest pen I can find. I have a Yard-O-Led Grand Viceroy and a sterling silver Conway Stewart Duro. They each weigh 65.9 grams. Is there anything heavier out there?

Not sure of the weight but my Retro 51 steel Double 88 could be used as a weapon if need be.

Chris Thompson has Duofold replica pens made of solid Titanium, Bronze, or Copper. The Copper one is especially heavy. Think a Parker flat-top, 1920's size pen bored out of a solid bar of copper. The Titanium pen that I had was a great writer, but too heavy for any pocket and also too heavy for the clip that Chris put on the pen. These pens are VERY high quality. Check out www.thompsonpens.com. There was also an article on the Stylophiles site that you can read.

The solid silver Lomeinchay pen is also real, realy heavy. I don't remember the model name.

One of my first fountain pens was a kit pen done by a guy in Australia. It weighs 90 grams. It is a nightstick, it is not a pen. :headsmack:

Bolding addesd by me.

I'd nominate the Sailor Gaudi as about the heaviest pen around. 65.7 gm, and 6" long.

I am thinking that may be a tad light for the OP.

I would go with the solid copper one by Mr. Thompson.

If you're willing to go nuts with price, a solid gold pen would be good...

Or you could just go with the copper one. :)

I don't suppose anyone makes pens of lead?

Edit: Just a thought... if you had some giant of a pen made out of the likes of bronze, obviously it would be a pen that would double up as a nightstick. Now, give it a coat of Noodlers Blue Ghost and you can have a glow stick too! *Ponders* Perfect for all those night outs which might turn... sour!

Acura Purple Grapes, 108gr loaded...

See http://www.hisnibs.com/purple_grapes.htm

Funny thing is, it is also a very smooth writer (steel nib), and looks great loaded with PR Plum.

Well one of the next pens I want is a Toledo 9XX just because of that (weighs in at 40 g).

Now for a REAL weighty FP, try out a Montegrappa Blue Nile, weighing in at 179 g.

BTW: pure gold.

That's a pen that I'd love to get my hands on.

This pen sits atop the entrance to Fahrney's in Washington DC. Now that's what I call a HEAVY pen.

Would you like an extra nib with that?

Outside of brass-bodied pens, I had a sterling Ferrari de Verace Savant that, although relatively thin (but long), felt like you could use it as a ninja throwing spike. It was probably balanced enough to do it, too!

This Consway Stewart Evoluation weighs 132gr. A beautiful pen, by the way. Ruud

This looks like my idea of what a pen should be. But again, they do not even show it on the Conway Stewart website so I guess I would have to find it on the secondary market.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
