I hope in their quest to bring out the new [and probably more expensive], they don't neglect the truly classic colors like this.

You and me both! Violet and the Bordeaux are two of my favorite inks from any brand.

oh great . . . . all reviews pointed me to MB violet. There are a few ebayer's that are selling it (buy it now at 15-19 + shipping - ouch). maybe I will wait. thanks.

  • 1 year later...

I lucked out and found a bottle of MB Violet at a Cigar shop with a MB Kiosk. It was their only bottle of MB ink. I've been looking for some for a while and it seems like it's difficult to find locally (Toronto).

Thanks for the reviews!

I believe it has been discontinued and replaced with Lavender Purple. Not having had the original, I can't tell you how they compare.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

it's my favorite ink !!

When I heard that it's discontinued last year ...I went to all the MB shops I know in Singapore ..

At that time, they left 3 bottles ...

I was so tempted to buy all threes... but felt I should leave one bottle for anyone who likes this ink..

I went home with the the 2 bottles ..

I haven't tried the new version, but my pen pal says the new version looks and behaves like the original.

I have the newer Lavender Purple version and it looks to be the same ink with a new, more-accurate name. The scans in this post (on my monitor, anyway) match my experience with this beautiful ink very closely.

Great stuff.

There was a post on MB sepia inks and some one swears there is a difference between the old purple and the new Lavender. The swab scan he put up shows a small bit of a difference.

Nice!! So, Have you written with the new montblanc lavender purple ink? Is there any difference between this violet ink and the new laveder purple one? Somer people say that the lavender purple is a bit light.... but I'm not sure 'cause I never had the violet. Help me :)

Thanks in advance!

It's within the range of batch variation or concentration of old bottles.
