Congratulations on achieving a cherished goal. The pen is stunning and your photography does it justice. Are you a professional photographer by chance? The composition, lighting, framing, depth of field, etc...is flawless! Truly worthy of the subject.

 

One question regarding the angular shape of the pen - most of us are used to the traditional smooth tubular shape of our pens. Visconti does some interesting things such as twisting the body and that seems to have been well received. So....how does a squarish pen feel in the hand?

Congrats Bryant -

 

This is one of the most dramatic designs in pendom.

 

I like the rook so much I would always use the pen unposted. I also like the mirrored rook shape of the section - just as chess pieces are mirrored across the board.

 

The presentation casket is more clever and more lush than any I have seen crafted for a pen - those Italians really know how to wrap up a nice package.

 

So I think this is the quintessential pen for notation during a quiet game of chess - bottle of port to one side.

 

What do you say Bryant - Pawn to King 4?

It really is, I think thats why I was so drawn to it.

I use it unposted most of the time for that exact reason. Even though I like to post all my pens.

 

I agree this is the pen for a game a chess, but maybe a bottle Krug or Crown XR! Im not a big a Port guy...

Hi Bryant - I agree with your comments on the nib. Mine is a fine point and I struggle to get ink flowing if the pen has been unused for more than 24 hours - not great for such a divine looking pen! Greg Minuskin is posting it back with it's new stub nib - I'll keep you informed as to the transformation.....

Congratulations on your new arrival, Bryant. That is one spectacular pen! I’m afraid though that it may turn out to be shockingly expensive to own. Such a magnificent object must be displayed in appropriate surroundings. And a place must be found for the case, which simply cannot be relegated to the pile of boxes in the basement. I sense a complete upgrade of your office/library to bring it up to standard. And the some of the herd may be looking a little shabby all of a sudden . . .

Ha! I was wondering who that was! He sent me a picture of your pen when he got as he modified mine as well... I have learned that its not the nib, I think its the cap seal, but please update me on yours after its done.

Yeah, this pen is amazing... I use this pen daily so even though its a work of art, its still a user pen, as all my pens are!

 

As for display, it looks pretty good in my pocket!

I know its hard to believe it but Bryant is one of those unique people that actually use ALL his pens no matter how rare/expensive they are.

If I would own such an exquisite looking pen I would keep the pen in the display case and use it only in special occasions.
