What are your pens' NICKNAMES ?

I call my Charleston Chuck and my Big Red just Red. Lapis is of course Lap and my MB 146 Monty (yes, the "And Now for Something Completely Different" Monty).

I first wanted to name the Aurora Optima Mini Rory but since he is so small, I now just call him Roy. Cress accepts Chris, but what to do with M215 and his bigger brother 800? Or with 51??

Someone asked this question some time ago, and I made a discovery. I have nicknames for cars, various household implements and any number of sundry inanimate objects, but I do not have any for my pens. I call my pens by their model names, as uninspired as that may sound. Hence, my Mandarin Duofold is my "Mandarin Duofold." :glare:

Only a few of my pens have names, which I come up with whenever I can think of something:

My Waterman Philéas is named Sigmund because it looks like it has a gold cigar band, and we all know about Dr. Freud and cigars. ;)

My slightly upscale (as it were) "Vintage" (green marble and gold-plated trim and nib) Sheaffer NoNonsense is named "Herman" after the TV character Herman Munster because of its flat top.

My Parker "51" is named Ike after the nickname of US General/President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who used them.

I've recently purchased a semi-hooded Sheaffer cartridge pen apparently made of low-density polyethylene from a fellow FPN member--the first name that came to mind for it was Dopey. :P

I have to admit, however, that this business of naming pens is quite silly because I, for one, never actually use the names (no, I don't talk to my pens!). Oh, and my Newtonian telescope is named...wait for it...Isaac.

Ok...I thought people were kidding when they called this the Fountain Pen Nuthouse. Hee hee, guess not.

Sorry, I don't need to name my pens because I don't talk to them. ;)

Maybe I'm in the minority here :P

I think the only name I have called any of mine is "Bloody thing!" when It has just 'blobbed' somewhere especially inconvenient, such as on a nice white carpet! (I don't have those in Spain, fortunately...tiled floors!)

I name my pens after the people I buy them from.

So most are named Alan and Phillip.

Like Frank B, the truck has a nickname, the parrot has several, the wife has some, even some beanie babies in the household, but none of the pens.............curious

If only one of a make/model, then usually just the model name, ie. the 51 or the Prelude.

If more than one of the same, then by color, ie. the blue Lamy or the black Pelikan (these are the only ones I have multiples of. All three of my Lamys are Safaris).

My first car, a '67 LeMans, was The Beast. My current truck is My BMT (Big Mean Truck).

Take care and God bless,

Steve

Oh, this is an easy one.

My Stipula 22 (titanium nib) is called LOSER because even though Richard fixed it for me, it shouldn't have needed it as a brand new pen.

My brand new Taccia Fantasy (B nib), purchased at the DC show is now known as DRY as a BONE. :crybaby:

Of all my pens, only my first - a red Lamy Safari, has a nickname. I call it "Red."

I name my computers, my car, ... so I feel like I should name my pens, but I haven't decided on names yet. But the idea is there -- I am a pen-namer. :)

To tell the truth No. 1: I didn't even do a search and see if this question had already been posted. Didn't even think of it, altho I do do a lot of searching here. Sorry. (But maybe that while back was a big while back)

Truth No. 2: I don't talk with my pens, I write with 'em. HAR HAR. But to elaborate a bit here, it's like this. I protocol a sort of "logbook" in which I always note who's got what and when. E.g. on August 15, Chuck was filled with Rubinato B-B. Otherwise a week later I'll likely have forgotten this. :headsmack:

I'm not sure, but it's possible that some of us here (myself certainly) name some types of objects out of habit from work and/or school. For example, otherwise identical computers and printers are named in order to differentiate between them. Another example is that I named and labeled my telescopes just in case I need to refer to them individually at a "star party." While I don't need to name my fountain pens, I have a particular interest in them, so I sort of automatically, without a lot of thinking, come up with names for them anyway.

The only pen I have that has a nickname is one I got from my father. I call it - "dad's pen"! :happyberet:

Only 3 of my pens have nicknames, I am not sure my nick are what you had in mind but anyhow:

- My first pen ever which was an Elysé gold plated was called "Gold Quill" (yes quill, their real nicks are in French and this one real name "Plume d'or")

- My Waterman Green Patrician is the "Quill of Hopes" (Plume d'Espérance)

and last

- My Pelikan M620 Grand Place is the "Quill of Sorrow" (Plume du Dépit)

Cheerful hey?

Like many others, I give nicknames to every living being at home, and to almost every usefun object, but not really to the fountain pens. Too bad, I shall look for some fancy names. But they are, in my perception, female.

I just call the old Aurora Style "Panciona" (fat belly) because "she" isn't slim at all :-)
