"Goldspot" - reliable website?

They are wonderful to deal with. I've only had good experiences with them. When I bought a bunch of gift pens over the holidays, they even sent me a free Jinhao fountain pen and a vial of ink to try.

Update on my experience with Goldspot:

  • Order placed January 5. I got an email saying the pen was backordered and most backorders take 3-10 business days to fill. That's fine, I'll wait.
  • Checking their website several times since then, they have never placed a backorder or out-of-stock label on the pen. It still can be added to cart, with every appearance of being in stock.
  • I wait until January 19, which was 10 business days. Ready to send them an email asking about the order status, when I see they just sent me an email asking me to take a satisfaction survey on how the order was packed! Double-checked, there was no email of shipment in the interim, and my card has never been charged by them (thank goodness).
  • Reply to that email (it says you can reply if there are questions) to point out that the order was never even shipped, and ask them to please cancel the order assuming it has not shipped.
  • No acknowledgment as of now, 2 full days later.

Really unacceptable. I think this is the worst experience with an online retailer I can remember having. With so many very attentive, customer-oriented options for pens, I have no intention to use them again, and would advise the same to anyone who asked.

I've had the same thing happen. Placed an order for several items. The order went through fine on their website. I received a confo email saying the order would ship within 1-2 business days. Two days later, I received another email saying that one of my items was out of stock but order would ship within 3-10 business days. It has now been two weeks with no word. I just emailed them to cancel my order. Kind of ridiculous.

Sorry to hear that others have had bad experiences with their service. My dealings with them have been overwhelmingly positive. I've placed 8-10 orders with them over the past couple of years with no problems.

There was one hiccup. I happened to see a Cross Century RB I was interested in matching with one I already own. It was shown on their website and on their eBay site, but the eBay site said "1 available/1 sold" or something like that. The impression I received was that the pen was out of stock. I used the chat feature on the website, described the issue, and confirmed that they were indeed sold out and that the model had been discontinued. The gentleman apologized for the error. No problem; I did suggest that they update their listings, but I don't know if they did. I've placed orders since then with absolutely no issues. So, I would agree with others that if there is an item in which you are interested, it may be worth a call or chat to confirm availability. They often run some really great specials, and the free Jinhao pens are a nice touch.

Please see my current classifieds!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
