Hard Rubber Repair

I've had good success with Loctite 480 (black) and 406 (clear) for plastics and hard rubber:

LOCTITE 480 is an instant adhesive designed for the assembly of difficult-to-bond materials which require uniform stress distribution and high tensile and/or shear strength. It is a rubber-reinforced adhesive offering increased flexibility and peel strength along with enhanced shock resistance. The product provides for the rapid bonding of a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics and rubbers. The product exhibits good resistance in humid environments.

The 480 has worked for filling in BHR feed chips and cap chips by building it up layer by layer, the 406 is a clear adhesive I've used less but did use to bond back together a mottled hard rubber pen that had been snapped in half and badly glued in the past (all removed with acetone).

The 480 has also worked well for invisible crack repairs on black plastics and celluloid as well invisibly mending a completely shattered MB232 cap.

While the cap chips are still holding (don't ever post) for a snapped feed I'd look at replacing it first unless its a rare type / shape. I've not done enough miles for feeds which will be a harsher wet environment but the chip fills are still holding. The other problem you'll have will be the daily stress you'd be applying to the feed.

For a pen you are putting in a case for display the 480 every day as the repair will be invisible.

Thanks stylomeister! I agree with your suggestions, I have had the same experience. But I feel like feeds wont hold up to any of these solutions, just as you doubt. A replacement is the best option I guess
