My first review. :embarrassed_smile:

As you see, the 5-min soak didn't touch it. I've had the Samsui Red in the Reform 1745 for over 12 hours. The pen starts and doesn't skip. I do notice that if I am writing fast - like my signature - there is some skipping, but when I slow to normal writing speed it doesn't happen. I'll update this if I see any other quirks.

I just found it here. Along with many other lovely colors!

 

I bought a few "Singapore Colours" from Tay--he's really nice and usually responds to email within 24 hours. No affiliation--just a happy customer. I asked about some of the other colors, and he emailed me a description and water-soak test of all of the colors! If I can figure out how to post the pdf, I'll post it in a new thread.

Inks currently in pens: Noodler's La Reine Mauve, Rachmaninov, Prime of the Commons Blue-Black, Naval Orange, MN Whaleman's Sepia, Verdun Green, Majestic Orange; J. Herbin Violette Pensée, Rose Cyclamen, Orange Indien

I don't suppose it's possible to get a comparison with Noodler's Nikita (I know that one's not bulletproof) and/or the UK Eternal Empire Red? On my screen, your scan looks like a bright Ferrari red... is that about right?

empire red is just not even going to come close, because even at its wettest it is more pale than Visconti Bordeaux. This looks like it is THE red!!! I'd like to see it up against Skrip Red, Widowmaker, and Nikita.

 

I'm hoping that the next batch of widely-available Noodler's inks will include more colors like this. We still haven't seen some of those lovely reds that were in the batch of purple prototypes for the FPN ink...

 

I wonder if this red glows off the page like Tolstoy does. Do you have a blacklight to shine on the ink?

How did you order it from penasia.com ? That page does not have clickable links, and Noodler's is not a choice on his navigation menu to bring up any store type ordering (for any items). Does Tay only sell by email correspondance? I'm surprised there are no other sources in the USA for the Singapore series.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Oh my goodness. I'm just now seeing this review. This is the PERFECT red I have been looking for, and of course not sold in the US.

What an awesome looking red! I've been wanting a bulletproof fire engine red like this. Maybe Goulet Pens could look into carrying this? I noticed they carry some of the Russian series. Please please please!

Noodler's made a bulletproof red for the Taiwan market a while ago too. I am wondering how saturated the ink is and whether it has a tendency to feather and spread.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
