Once a pen was so happy to be bought. So much so, that it piddled all over its pages.

(I don't know if you have these one in the US...)

The us version is the varsity and it looks slightly different but pretty much along the same style. The nib really looks like the pilot though. Big Tony probably has much more expensive pens in his office but the one he's carrying in that picture looks like a disposable, not a conway stewart.

Everyman, I will go with thee

and be thy guide,

In thy most need to go

by thy side.

He's in a plane, maybe he/his staff don't want to worry about ink explosions and it's not a FP.

Is there life before death?

I got a cheap Bic fountain pen at WH Smith once - so awful I threw it away so I can't produce a picture for you all... but it looks like that to me. Though I agree - why? Why not just a rollerball on a plane if you are going to go for cheap and scratchy?

Pilot Varsity in my opinoin, Rotring Core has a clunky ink window, and always had a red ring around the barrel that meets up to the section. That would have been something if it was filled with Gordon Brown's blood heh

I dunno, you guys. I'd say you're on the right track. Just one question...

Does anyone else see a sloped section similar to that on a Duofold flat-top? (Certainly not saying that is what that is...no way! Just look for that slope in the section

Other than that, I would say vpen.

WANTED:

Indian Ebonite

I have to change my opinion and say that I don't think it is a Core pen after all.

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time. TS Eliot

Hi,

If any member have seen the TIME magazine issue dated 9th June 2008, the front cover is former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair on a private plane holding a fountain pen as if writing.

Does anyone know what brand or type of pen his holding?

Pilot Varsity or a VPen,

Julio

Tony Blair's pen among world leaders' items in charity auction

Fancy writing with the same pen British Prime Minister Tony Blair has used to sign official documents? Or savouring a bottle of red wine from Australian Prime Minister John Howard?

Now you can.

Each item will go for a minimum of $US99 with bidding closing July 24, organisers of the first World Leaders Charity Auction said.

A total of 11 items from world leaders past and present would be offered at the auction launched in Singapore by charity group Youth Challenge.

They include a signed photograph of Israel's former prime minister Ariel Sharon and an autographed copy of Ethics for the New Millennium by the Dalai Lama.

Also up for grabs is a framed portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a silver-pewter vase donated by Cambodia's former king Norodom Sihanouk and a religious artefact from Mexican President Vicente Fox.

Former Canadian prime minister Jean Chretien sent in a signed photograph, while Blair gave up a silver and black Parker pen with his signature on it.

A set of three gold-plated medallions commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, the 80th anniversary of the Balkan Wars and the 50th anniversary of World War II were also on offer, donated by former Greek president Konstantinos Stephanopoulos.

This was the first time world leaders had parted with personal belongings to be auctioned for charity, Vincent Lam said, founder and executive president of Youth Challenge Singapore.

Proceeds from the auction would go to the newly launched World Humanitarian Fund to support development projects in Mongolia, China and Zimbabwe, he said.

"We realised that there have been so many auctions of celebrity items but none of the world leaders," Mr Lam said.

Next year, Youth Challenge planned to hold an auction of Asian leaders' personal items

Tony only had 3 sets of pens with his name on it.They were parker jotters and after some time he gave one set to Katheryn blair when she was at st joan of ark school in highbury and the other to one of his son,s and he kept one for a long time before giving it to charity

The one you see in the photo was given to me by my child in the 90s and will go up for-sale soon. so if any one wants it contact me

And where does he carry this "no-name" pen when he is not wearing a jacket? His shirts have no pockets.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
