Sealing Wax

I usually get the wickless sticks of wax then cut a chunk off with a knife. I put the chunk in a little wax spoon and melt it over a candle. It is 100% soot free and you get the right amount every time!

Literally just read about all of this the other day.

The closer/hotter the flame=soot. You want to melt the wax, but not to dripping point.

Licking, wetting the seal before you stamp is proper to keep the wax from sticking.

Flexible goes through the mail fairly well.
Do NOT put "hand cancel" on the correspondence as in one of the tests cited, hand canceling damaged the seal far worse than the machine, every time!

The glue gun sticks can be awesome. Not an advertisement or affiliation, but I got my glue gun sticks from Pendamonium.

In history, men normally used a round seal for their documents or a signet, worn on the pinkie of the left hand, while women usually had an oval.

Now...the trick for me is to find an elegant seal that looks antique in nature when used to seal something or a beauriful signet ring.

I'll try to see if I can find the article. It was interesting.

So, what's your point?

(Mine is a flexible F.)
