Stipula Zafferano

Hi there, I asked Encephelartos to review this ink since it hasn't been talked about much on FPN. I think the review can clearly show why -- looks like a wimpy gold-yellow to me! I scanned this for Enceph., and added a sample of Apache Sunset (very close in hue) and Habanero.

This is a nice review. Thanks.

This ink also reminds me of Herbin's "Ambre de Birmanie," which in turn resembles the "Apache Sunset." The Ambre also looks darker and more legible when used with a wet M or B nib. I use Ambre as one of my daily inks. The Zafferano color is a lovely pastel shade, but to my eyes it seems to need more brown or red to be useful as a daily ink. I am still going to consider trying it.

Cool. I haven't done much with orange/yellow inks and I would like to try some. Like you, I think the Stipula is a bit light, but that Orange Indien and Habanero look great!

I like the Habanero, but the orange I have is the PR Orange Crush (which I'm sure I've miscalled Orange Burst in other threads). I really like the color, but I find that once I'm done writing with it, I feel... a little uncomfortable having a page (or more) of orange writing.

Hmm...

Lovely color, though.
