Hi Sam.

Florida blue is a bright, true blue, lighter and bluer than Waterman blue-black. South seas blue is more of a turquiose, lots of green in it. Florida blue is a great ink, medium saturation, with excellent flow. I use Waterman Florida blue or blue-black in pens with stingy flow, it usually makes dry pens write better. I hope this helps.

Hi Sam,

WM Florida Blue is a great blue ink. I would even say a standard. The only reason I don't use it much anymore is that it was the ink we used during all my school years. 15-20 years of the same ink can be a bit brutal.

I LOVE Florida Blue! It's one of my favorite blue. I recommend everyone to have a bottle of it.

Lots of people liked PR DC Supershow 2004, but I didn't like it at all. However I feel in love with FLorida Blue first time I tried it. Also loved Aurora Blue :)

My Liason came with a 8pack of carts of Florida blue and I just gave it a try. It's a very nice blue. Not too dark not too light. I'm enjoying writing with it in the pen.

Hi memphislawyer,

If you want something between Blue Black and Navy Blue, you definitely don't want Waterman Florida Blue.

You'd probably want Noodler's Ottoman Azure or Private Reserve DC Super Show 2003/4/5, maybe PR American Blue, or Diamine Presidential Blue.

Here are 2 OA reviews, which don't look anything like my OA:

Ottoman Azure 1

Ottoman Azure 2

I'll try to find my sample and provide a link to those as well.

3 reviews of PR DC SS (2003, 4, 5):

PR DC SS 2003

PR DC SS 2004

PR DC SS 2005

According to the manufacturer these are all the same inks.

PR American Blue:

Diamine Presidential Blue:

Here are some potentially interesting mixes for you:

Lapindigo - mix of Legal Lapis and Iraqi Indigo, by Viseguy

Gerry's Indigo - another mix

For comparison, here is WM BB:

Florida blue is true blue, but it does lack some of the pizazz of some of the other blues. Doesn't shade much. Wim's review will give you a good idea of the color and then you can decide for yourself.

This is the standard by many for the perfect blue ink, it is the first ink to be inked into pens to test how the pen is because it is just perfect in everyway (I dont have it) but by everyones standards this is it!!

Heya Sam! Just curious - which color Charleston did you get? I have been eyeing those, but can't decide between the ivory, the yellow, the black or . . . Maybe when you get the pen you can do a little review for us? :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
