Hi,

I was just browsing for new pen sites and stumbled across this one. Are they reputable?

Thanks to all,

try searching on 'Montgomery'....this has been discussed at some length previously.

I won't comment about Montgomery but I will say that FPH in NY has been terrific.

I have purchased pens through eBay from Montgomery Pens and the transactions were smooth, shipping reasonable and swift, and the merchandise as described. I believe they also have a B & M, of the same name, but I am not certain it is the same seller. Prices seem a little higher than the eBay store, and I have not used the non-eBay store.

Why bothering with some hazardous purchase through a moderately honest seller when there is a lot of good places around to buy ? :hmm1:

However, it seems that people may have been discussing two separate companies with Montgomery in their name -- that part was never clarified. Here's at least one other thread.

They are one and the same, AFAIK. I've purchased from the eBay seller montgomery_stationery, and their note/packing list that came with the package says Montgomery Pens and invites me to visit the website montgomerypens.com. Of course, this could just be a random person borrowing Montgomery Pens' reputation, but in any case, my transaction with montgomery_stationery (the eBay seller) went smoothly without a hitch.

Montgomery Pens is a reputable eBay seller, and they also sell from their own website. They have one of the best collections of new old stock (NOS) pens from the last 30 years. Their prices are a bit on the high side, but often, they are the only source for an NOS pen that I've been searching for.

My advice: shop around, and if Montgomery is the only source for the pen you want, buy it. They give good, reliable service.

Ditto on FHP. You may also wish to try Pear Tree Pens (no affiliation). I've found them to be quite reputable and, IMO, James P. is the King of Customer Service.

I've bought from Montgomery Pens. No problems. I've also ordered from Pens_N_More...no problems. I think I buy most of my pens from DalysPens in Chicago. Never a problem, lots of discounts and a reliable dealer.

Out of about 4 transactions, one I completed with this seller had an issue. I got a totally different item than I ordered. Communication was brusque and not as quick as I would hope for, but the seller made it right in the end.

I would probably do as somebody else advised and would look for another seller. If the item was one I really wanted and couldn't locate elsewhere, I would buy from Montgomery with a minimal amount of worry. In the end, I just think there happen to be better sellers out there I'd prefer to give my business to if possible.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
