Scripto Pens

Recommended Posts

After a trip to an Antique show, I came home with a bag of pens. Among them, a couple of Scripto cartridge pens, made either in the late 50s, or early 60s. Problem is, they are very slender pens and it doesn't look like there are cartridges available anymore. Everything I tried was too large in diameter. It's a shame because they are in excellent shape physically.

Are there any known alternatives to the original Scripto cartridge?

Those Scriptos might be prime candidates for eyedropper (ED) conversion.

As long as the barrels are all plastic, with no metal inside to react to the ink, it should work.

Just fill the barrel with ink, seal the threads with silicone grease, and you should be all set.

A more detailed description of ED conversions is on the Repair Q & A section. But it really is that simple. The transparent barrel pens like the Sheaffer School Pens are also ideal for ED use, since you can see how much ink you have.

I'd have to glue the ventholes shut in the barrels too. Not sure I'm quite that brave. Knowing me, I'd go stupid and open one ful of ink...... hahahhahaahha, but thanks.
