Best cheap non-FP writing instrument (hack)

To me, the best non-FP writing instrument is the California-Republic Palomino 2B pencil. Smooth, dark, and requires little pressure.

That's a really swell pencil. Have you tried the Tombow Mono 100? pencilthings.com has some. I usually choose a B pencil but the 100 in HB does the job too, it lays down such a dense line.

I dig those Pan Piston filling ball points. Second to that I love my SS Jotter with a gel refill in it and my Sheaffer Stratowriter.
