International Pen Association

I was browsing around on line, looking for various fountain pen related websites and came across the International Pen Association. It seem like it could be worth it, so I came here and did a few searches of the forum and couldn’t find a discussion about it.

So I am starting one. Do any of you have an experience or opinion with or about this organization? One of the benefits is a free subscription to "Pen World" which costs more than the $25 membership fee.

I'm all ears as to your thoughts.

When going on a journey always take your pen.

I don't know anything about the group. I'll be interested to see any replies you get from those more knowledgeable than me.

I have no idea about what this association does...

But I can bet it does not beat what this forum has provided to me!

And this forum is free!

But still curious to know what this does!

Let's see. You can save $4.25 per issue of ad-heavy Pen World, which I can get free at pen shows and often from member retailers listed on the IPA website. Of course, there is the gift card to save $15 off a pen that otherwise might be a couple of hundred dollars less from retailers not on their list.

In exchange, your membership gives the retailers the following, according to the website:

"As consumers enter our program and fill out customized data related to their instrument purchase preferences, you would have the ability to view this information and send out targeted communications to them, offering solutions based on individual buying habits."

I notice that at least one of the major retailers sits on the board.
