The Novum was made by Aurora. This facetted version dates to the late 30's early 40's when gold to make nibs was in short supply. The filling sytems uses a small lever at the top of the barrel end with and ink sac.

The Union pen was made in Holland after WWII. These were high quality pens. This one is in a NM condition. It's a Piston fill

nice pens ;) is the union a piston filler?

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Interesting pictures, and very nice too.

The designer of some of the Union pens actually comes from my home town, Maastricht. He was the guy who founded MEVRI, one of the few big (fountain) pen stores left in the Netherlands. MEVRI stands (stood) for Maastrichtse Eerste Vulpen Reparatie Inrichting (First Maastrichtian Fountain Pen Repair Institution). The old owner, a first class pen- and nibmeister, according to what I heard, was one of the main dealers for Union. He designed a few pens during WWII, with Union in mind, and they decided to manufacture a few according to his designs after the war.

The current owners of the store are his son and daughter-in-law, who run it jointly. The store is still at the same place where it was founded many, many years ago, in one of the high streets right in the centre of town.

Warm regards, Wim

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      >Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color,<   I'm sure they were, and my answer assumes that. It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
