Omas Arco Milord

My new Arco Milord from Omas came in last week. I bought this pen instead of the Paragon sized on the strength of Jim's (handlebar) comments on the pen. A strong selling point was the size. I naturally assumed it was the same size as the older style Milord and that's too small of a pen for me. I think he posted recently it was close to the old Paragon size, which is a nice sized pen. I would like to review it later when I've used it more, there are one or two already up on it but if I'm looking for a particular pen, I like to see as many reviews as I can.

A couple of things strike me right off, it's very light. That might give me some issues later, time will tell. And this Arco Milord, and my recent production black Paragon, are of very good quality and build, write smooth, and with no skipping or other problems associated with a balkly nib. You can still buy a nice, newly manufactured Omas.

I do wish Omas would go easy on the metal work on those sections in some of the recent designs. I'm not wild about it like most people but it really won't influence me on if I'm going to purchase a certain pen or not. My next buy will most likly be the Bologna in the scarlet celluloid. I wish I could find an older Paragon in that configuration but when one pops up it's pricy. Anyway some thoughts on my new pen and Omas. I'm happy with both my new Omas pens I've gotten recently.

It seems that most of the European makers except Stipula are increasingly adopting metal sections. I've begun to think that it's because the changing demographics of fountain pen usage have more people posting than in the days when FP usage--and not posting--were more common. A metal/lacquer pen like many Watermans balances better posted than a plastic pen, which gets a little top-heavy. A metal section compensates. It's just a theory, due in part to my difficulty imagining that the wave of metal sections is due entirely to a shift in design sensibilities.

Congratulations on your new Omas Arco Milord! :)

Talking about fountain pens is like dancing about architecture.

You may as well sell (or give away) every other pen you own. The Arco Milord is the only pen you'll ever go to again. It's that good. Congratulations!

So here's what happened
While you were nappin'
I just went out for a snack
I was feelin' famished
And then I vanished...
But now I'm back

Glad you enjoy your new Omas.

I am waiting for my second Omas too and hope to get it in the next 2 weeks or so.As you know I have the Paragon with a F nib and I will get an Ogiva with a M nib.

Please tell me how do you compare your Omas nib in comparison to you other pens ?

Respect to all

James, you know, I said the same thing to myself before I left for work this afternoon. Not sell my other pens of course, :headsmack: but you know what I mean.

Frankly, I think any fine nib on any one of my Stipula Etruria's are just as good. These two Italian brands, Omas and Stipula, have really nice fine nibs, probably the best of any in my small collection. I own an old style Bologna medium that I feel is better than the medium Stipula. I don't own many medium nibs as I prefer fine but it's just my opinion. I based that opinion on a not so scientific approach, my Bologna med glides, not many of my pens do that. It has that nice portico nib designed just for the Bologna.

I hope your new Omas is what you're looking for, goodguy.

Great choice! If I didn't have the old style Arco, the new Milord would be my pen of choice as well. Maybe one day I'll get one. The material is just so fascinating that one can have more than one pen.

Congrats on the new Arco!!! I use mine every day now, usually for diary/journal entries. It is THE most beautiful pen in my collection with the Stipula Etruria a close 2nd. I also purchased an Arco rollerball for those times when a fountain pen isn't the best. Both are stunning!

Well done ol boy!!!

I had to send two of the Arco Milords back to Kenro because they were leaking where the section meets the body. I received the second replacement last week, and so far it is not leaking. Kevin at Kenro was extremely responsive. Called me to inform me that his boss was taking my pen with him to Italy to show the folks at Omas. The pen is a great writer, although my fine nib writes more like a medium.
