I picked up a bottle of Diamine Emerald yesterday (it was St Patrick's Day, coincidentally). I have been looking for a nice deep British Racing Green type colour, by which I *don't* mean the Montblanc colour since that's not what British racing green is to me (or to much of this country, I'd bet). Anyway, Diamine Emerald isn't as dark as I wanted, but it was the only decent green the shop had so I gave a go.

 

As it turns out, I really like it! It's lovely and springlike and fresh, bright but not eyepopping. It flows well and comes out of the pen quite wet but dries quickly. No bleeding or feathering on my average Miquelrius and Lidl quad-ruled notebook paper. Like most Diamine inks, it has really lovely shading characteristics as it isn't over-saturated -- it's noticeably a richer green from wider and wetter nibs, and a nice bright shade from a fine nib. Very smooth -- it's a joy to write with, really, in both my Lamy Safari XF and my Platignum no. 5. A perfect springtime Easter treat!

 

As for that racing green, I might try adding a drop of black later for what I am suspecting might turn out to be the perfect BRG for me.

It looks like it could be mixed to be a nice racing green.

 

I agree that the Montblanc resembles racing green about as much as teal does, which is to say Not Hardly.

I just bought the Diamine Monaco Red (first Diamine for me) -- and it's vivid and rich and beautiful.

I'm a huge fan of green inks and this looks great! Are Diamine inks made by another company and private labeled, or do they make their own? I like Mont Blanc's racing green (I think it's meant to be the color of race car engine oil!) and I've warmed up to Noodler's Sequoia Green.

 

Question: Is your Miquelrius notebook one of the 400-page glue-bound journals? I've spied those at Barnes & Noble and wondered how they handle fountain pen inks...

Diamine inks are made here in the UK and are private labelled, although some of them are also rebottled as Yard-o-Led inks.

As for the Miquelrius, it's just a standard Paperchase spiral notebook that happens to contain Miquelrius paper. It's...alright. A bit thin. Does the job.

 

What kind of fountain pen is shown in the picture?

I like Diamine Emerald as well. Woodland is darker, and is also a lovely ink.

Thats a lovely green colour, what turquise is to blue that is to green, I will add that to my "get" list, for a deep green try PR sherwood green, maybe add a drop of black for less vibrancy...

Emerald is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I have it in my Pelikan M450 right now and it's a smashing combo.

 

Definitely one of my favourite inks. :)

I got a couple of freebie Emeralds, among a total of 12 cartridges, with a package of 30ml bottles.

 

However they were unlabelled and I cannot figger which are the 2 Emeralds and which are 2 Blue-Blacks...... you'd think it would be easy, but those are the only 4 I can't separate!

 

I'm waiting for two more c/c pens to arrive so I can live dangerously by just trying a couple!...too many inks, too few pens ;)

 

I have a bottle of Woodland which looks lovely from a nice wet nib.

I think Emerald will, too.

 

(I just realised what a pointless post this is...sorry :blush: )

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
