Gorgeous! Renaissance Art Journals

I'm still demurring. Renaissance Art will definitely be my journal cover of choice. I'll definitely get a refillable cover -- probably the one designed for the A5 ish sized Moleskine. Probably a wrap-around cover, so that I can also fit a Clairefontaine A5 (which isn't the same size as a Moleskine A5) in there. Probably with a medium sized pen loop. Probably yadda yadda. Just not quite yet.

I already know what I want. I just don't want to admit to myself that I'm going to get it. :)

Seriously now.

Arthur was very nice to me. Explained it all in a previous post. He gets my big thumbs-up.

I'm a big Ren Art fan as well. If you're thinking Moleskine size, however, you should also check-out http://www.gfellercasemakers.com/ for comparison.

Thanks for the heads-up. I looked but didn't really see anything that came close to what Ren Art offers. Not unhappy with what the G. Feller stuff is, but it's not what I want. Seems it's probably made of much heavier-duty leather anyway, less supple. I've seen roofers with that kind of belt case ... ya think a roofer has his Striped Geometric Duofold with a flex nib up there jotting notes in the hot sun? Pro'lly not ...

This makes me drool too - but not to buy one - I want to make one :D. Or several. It really makes my hands itch to get back to my craft "roots" as it were, as I did quite a bit of leatherwork in my teens and early twenties. I had horses. Leatherworking knowledge was a necessity. I also did just a bit of bookbinding. Couldn't do much as I hadn't much money, and "back then" finding sources of supply was very problematical.

I understand there are some issues with the Arches Text Wove paper then? I've done searches here on the forums but haven't turned up anything detrimental. I mayn't have used the right search string. I'll dig a bit deeper as I would like to know all pros and cons. I really don't want to put HP Premium Laserjet into a handcrafted journal for rather obvious reasons  I should think!

But back to the original topic, such a lovely piece of work. There is just something so timeless about leather.

Sadly I can't endorse Ren-art for UK buyers.

I have asked n more than one occasion if it is possible to find a cheaper shipping method. I haven't had an answer to any of my requests. I would prefer a flat "no, now go away", to being ignored. It's a shame because it looks like good stuff.

Got my Zerkall Book Smooth refills for my 5x7 refillable Ren Art journal.

Super smooth! As Kiavonne said, the inks do dry a bit slower. The ZBS

is smooth, thick, no feathering so far and no bleed through. I placed an

order for the Frankfurt Creme... can't wait.

I asked for some paper samples so I know what to get for the next journal I order, which will undoubtedly be a refillable one. I received them today and I tested out all three of the papers that are being offered, I have to say the one I liked most was the Zerkall Book Smooth, second place was Frankfurt Creme, and the last was the Arches. I tried out five different fountain pens with a variety of inks and the Zerkall Book Smooth was the only paper to have constant nice lines.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
