Waterman Audace

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I saw--then I bought...Today I had a chance to see the Midnight Glamour fountain pen. The Audace is a nice all metal pen that has a slimmer grip than the M200. It has a sculpted metal cap that has a square profile on the top with the Waterman logo stamped there. It is quite a light pen and accepts cartridges and converters.

The soft, padded case is purple-blue with pink lining. The case is designed like most other pen cases except that the case has two magnets that click together when you shut it. On the case there is a pink braid that can be used if you want to hang the pen on a lanyard maybe? It is quite nice. I just placed a special order at my dealer in the UK for my own Audace fountain pen.

For your information, to unscrew the section, grip that engraved metal ring that says "Waterman" on it and give it a twist. Although the pen is metal, it is very light and well balanced.

Hi,

I ordered an Enchanted Garden with a fine nib. Now the excitement builds. :) I will get you a review when it gets here.

That's a nice looking pen, Dillon...An interesting shape that reminds me of the Pelikan Pharo somewhat...but without a clip. Looking forward to your review :)

Hi,

Well, it is hard to stop thinking about it, I am so excited. :)

The widest point on the barrel is a little wider than the M200, but the grip is slimmer. The one I saw had a smooth fine nib that is as fine about 0.45 MM or less. It has a steel nib and no trim ring. There is a lifetime warranty on the pen.

Hi Dillon,

I got curious and looked up the pen. I saw all of the models on Waterman's site, but noticed that in the U.S. they only have the less attractive models when you can even find an Audace in an FP! Wonder why that is?

Your choice, the Enchanted Garden, is certainly one of the attractive ones IMO. Looking forward to your review!

Best, Ann

Hi,

I buy mine from the UK, so I have every model at my disposal. Should you want one, just PM me.

I am still wondering why I can only get the Audace in Ballpoints in the US--not only that, a very, very limited choice.

I am so excited!!!

  • 4 months later...

Hi,

Ok, I finally got mine today. Waterman UK has been out of these things for several months. :bonk:

It uses the same nib as the Ici Et La, though it is more ornate. Pretty pen. I will try to get pictures.

Hi,

Ok, look here:

Those are the only Waterman models I can use. :) The rest are a bit too large for my hands--well, two hands for the other pens, this takes only one hand. I like them unposted.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
