Omas Grey ink review

Water test done for 15 seconds under a brisk stream of water. I could hardly believe there would be a trace left of such a light ink!

How easy is it to read at night under artificial lighting? I have trouble with some of the Herbin shades fading to nothing when I'm trying to transcribe onto the computer. How would this one read? I really like that and think it'd be more soothing than a more saturated black shade, but I'd hate to strain my eyes at night.

Ghost, I did the review in the evening under artificial lighting and didn't have any problem reading what I was writing. I don't think it would strain your eyes to read it, as say, a pale yellow would. Hope that helps!

Tony, I've never had Noodler's Lexington Grey, but I've seen it in snails. The Noodler's looks darker to me than the Omas.

Cedar, I purchased this ink on a recent visit to Pendemonium. Two other retailers that carry Omas inks that I can think of offhand are Swisher's and Pear Tree Pen Co. All of these folks are great to deal with--no affiliation with any of them, but glad to give them all an affirmative plug .

I bought the first bottle around 1996 and this ink is a very elegant medium grey ink with very slight purple hues.

Compared to many other greys which look either like faded black or have "dirty" brownish tones, Omas' Grey from 1996 is a very "clean" and elegant color which really looks special.In my opinion it is not only the nicest grey ink I know, but also one of my favorite inks.

This ink is a warm medium grey with red and brown tones; it doesn't look like the Omas' Grey ink from 1996 at all.

In my opinion the change of the ink formula in terms of colors has been to the worse.

I am looking for a nice ink to replace my discontinued Levenger Smokey. This is definitely in the running.
