How long does the scent last? I'd love to find an ink with scent-staying power until the recipient gets it...

The ink is waterproof IF you use a dip nib (this causes bleedthrough on cheap paper) Otherwise, it just washes away...

As for the scent, it lasts for about 2 days out in the open (Maybe longer if you keep it in an envelope).

Thanks for the review! I've just picked up my first bottle of J. Herbin ink, and plan to buy many more. Near the top of my list is the Bleu/Parfum Lavande.

I've been using shaving products from Nancy Boy with their signature lavender/peppermint/rosemary scent, and I also picked up a bar of lavender soap at the Stonewall Kitchen factory store on vacation in Maine this summer, and now I'm hooked on the smell of lavender. I was afraid it might be a little girly smelling, but I'd heard so many good things about Nancy Boy that I tried it anyway, and that led me to the pure scent of lavender in the Stonewall Kitchen soap. I find the scent somewhat spicy and flowery all at the same time.

When I saw that J. Herbin makes a blue ink with lavender scent, I knew I had to have some!

Oooh, that's promising! My only other experience with scented ink is the Montblanc Season's Greetings vanilla from this year, and the scent vanished before I put the Christmas cards in their envelopes. I'm just glad I realized it and didn't tell all my friends to sniff their cards, only to smell...nothing. :headsmack:

Update: Encre Bleue fades quite easily under light exposure. So I can't recommend it for normal use. However, this series (I don't know if thats the correct term) come in attractive bottles that would make a good inkwell conversion.

Looks very similar to Noodler's Luxury Blue, only perhaps a bit less saturated. I am not a fan of this color family; it's a "weak" blue that I find difficult to read as my eyes have trouble focusing on it. Your handwriting is nice though!

I suspect that scented inks are really for the amusement of the writer because I have yet to find one which sticks around either. I just don't think there is enough "stuff" there to make a real scent which humans can pick up AND it evaporates quite quickly so that there isn't that much in the way of molecules floating around for you to pick up with your nose. Great thought but I don't suspect it's a practical one.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
