Pocket Protector?

Hi All,

 

I have a quick question. My Mum is wanting to give Dad a leather pocket protector for Christmas, and neither of us can find one anywhere. Any ideas? I know that Levenger used to sell one, but I can't find it on their site anywhere. Any other ideas?

If he is only going to use it to carry pens, why not a pen case instead? Pelikan makes a 3 pen leather case. I have one that I bought a while ago from Oscar Braun pens for a very good price. It's nice soft leather.

I'd go with Stylo's suggestion. Pprotectors are helpful, but they won't win you fashion points.

In the States they are derisively considered an element of "geek" attire.

For cheapie pens, you could make a kydex rig on it and put it on a neck chain. The new symbol of nerd

I've suggested the leather pen case option too. I think that would be best myself. I've also suggested she may have to get one custom made if she really insists on a pocket protector. Thanks for the ideas

Don't worry about the "fashion statement". Real geeks are proud of their pocket protectors!

When I turned 50, my wife have me a leather one saying "... when a geek turns 50, he trades in plastic for rich corinthian leather for his pocket protector". I have been proudly wearing that pocket protector for a decade.

bumping this thread because i am interested in finding a source of vintage pocket protectors and google doesnt seem to be helping me out. anyone out there still collecting pocket protectors? where do you tend to find them?

anyone been to dr. pojman's PP collecting site? pocket protectors are SO COOL imho.

Office Depot sells a 3-pack of vinyl pocket protectors for about two bucks. How do I know? Well, I wear a lot of suits and when I carry a fountain pen I put it in a vinyl pocket protector in an inside jacket pocket. No one can tell it's there and it will protect against a leak (have yet to have one). Also, a couple of 3X5 cards fit nicely in the protector along with the pen for note taking. Out of sight means no geek factor (even for an MIT grad like me).
