Lamy 2000 o-ring

I somehow lost the o-ring for my Lamy 2000. Is there an acceptable substitute? Man, I really feel stupid :bonk: I took the nib and feed out for cleaning, set the o-ring aside, and when I re-assembled the pen, the darned thing was gone. It'll probably turn up the moment I buy a replacement or something, but until then, the pen is out of action.

I have mine here... if you do not get a recommendation, and need to go O-ring shopping, I can give you my pen and you can take the ring shopping with you.

That's the best I can do, bc I do not even know what you are talking about!

James, the o-ring sits inside the nib section as a collar around the feed. You'll have to unscrew the pen to see it.

First, you should post a WTB ad in the Marketplace. You never know, something might turn up.

Otherwise, I think you're going to have to call up LamyUSA. I can't imagine that it would cost much, though... just a little metal ring.

To Jmkeuning, I think she's talking about the little metal ring that has the "ears."

An empty can usually makes the loudest noise.

No, I'm reasonably sure that Jason's not talking about the metal ring. There is a little o-ring that sits inside of the actual section that essentially seats itself next to the top of the chamber's threads. I nearly lost one, too.

Jason...MN's only Lamy 2000 expert! That's it...I've lost faith in you. ;)

I haven't figured out how to direct link to other posts, so I cut and paste from a post in another Lamy 2000 thread I made a couple of days ago. It seems germane here:

"Here's my cautionary tale, but it ends well. I recently unscrewed the nib section of my Lamy 2000 (for the first time) to do a more thorough flushing. Oops -- I didn't notice the metal O ring, which has the little tines that click to keep the cap on, isn't actually attached to the pen, and it fell off without my noticing. :headsmack: Happily flushing away with the pen, I didn't realize that the O ring was no longer on the pen. It wasn't until I was reassembling the pen that I noticed its absence -- especially since the cap wouldn't click on! I looked all over for the O ring, then with a sickening feeling realized it must have gone down the drain. But as luck would have it, I was in my kitchen, and was using the sink with the garbage disposal unit. I pulled out the rubber collar around the drain and looked carefully down there with a flashlight (thankfully, it was clean...), and lo and behold, there it was sitting in the part of the disposal that catches the food before crunching it up. I could barely touch it with one finger, but that's all. After unsuccessfully trying tweezers and a couple other ad hoc approaches, I got a piece of my kids' bubble gum, chewed it, put it on the end of my finger then pressed it against the reluctant O ring. It Worked!! The O ring stuck to the gum; I was able to retrieve it, clean it off a bit, pop it back on the pen, and reassemble everything. I've been using the pen all day, and no permanent harm that I can see."

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
