I Love My Kaigelu!

I recently acquired a Kaigelu 316 Century Star (ivory with black swirls) after lusting after a friends. I'm a fan of "cheap and cheerful" Chinese pens and this is my one of my favorites. I love its beauty and it writes wonderfully after a simple tine adjustment and nib smoothing via micromesh and Mylar paper (highly recommended for all pens - some say you can ruin a nib with micromesh, but I've never had a nib that couldn't be improved with it. And Mylar paper is the avenue to "glassy smooth" nibs from my experience). It has a screw in converter which I really like. As long as you've a good converter, it eliminates the possibility of ink coming in contact with the beautiful plastic barrel. Not sure how easy it is to purchase a replacement if it fails though. A slightly heavy pen which I like. It has a larger grip section than many pens which I prefer.

One minor quibble - the blind cap is metal which slightly imbalances this somewhat long pen in my small hands. Even with small hands I prefer larger pens and all but never post any but the lightest.

Highly recommended.
