I think those are rather close to reality, even though the pen definitely looks "softer", and the rings less contrasted and more subtle in person.

Wait a second, am I seeing two different pelikan logos on your pen?? I am seeing the new 2003 logon on the cap with the one chick and the two chicks on the nib, is this true???????? If so that must be a miss print somewhere????

And the one over at levenger has two chicks on the cap, it looks like you might have a real rarity hang on to that one! Perhaps this pen is starting to transition over to all new logos including the nib (maybe in the next city series pen.)

i think it will be inconsistent for a while... they're probably using up stocked parts in a random method. Wouldn't place much importance in one or the other being present.

i like the opacity WRT aesthetics. But can you determine the ink level at all?

I think KCat is right that they use whatever they have left. Has anyone seen a nib with the new logo ?

You can't see the ink level at all.

Another one in natural light... This one is very very close to what I see.

Thanks Denis, I think your latest batch of pics tipped me over. Gonna have to drop Pam an email once I start selling off a few on the greenboard.

I think at any rate it would be cool to have two different pel logos on a single pen like that.

It's History in the making

And for those that it bothers, they can always get a nib with the new logo later :eureka:

Bien sur ! C'est ton devoir, citoyen !

And you can another Pelikan for your wife, if she is originally from NY, Chicago or San Francisco... If she is a southern Californian, then you'll have to wait for the Pelikan LA... what could that be ? Deep Black, with gargouilles, and little diamonds (for Hollywood)... :D

Wouldn't count on it. My new M805 is exactly the same - one youngling on the cap, two on the nib. BTW - great pics, Denis. THANKS and enjoy your new pen.

Yea I really wonder how often they are actually producing new pens in the factories, like M1000s can't be selling really fast, and if they get a decent batch out on the first run they might not have to go back and keep making them so it could be awhile before the caps are all transferred over to the one chick, it does do good for dating a pen for future reference and it is just really cool I think to have different logos, as sort of a transitional pen in the history of the company, I think this is the only time they have done this.

I don't go for the pastel baby-blue look. Now if they'd make a city pen in citrine, daaaang.

Well, it's not a city series, but look what I picked up on the 'bay over the weekend:

It's yellow! I haven't received it yet but I'm excited.

Then I will have to wait. Perhaps it will indeed be deep black, but with green freeway signs :D

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
