Organizers: Daily and Beyond

I was considering having the whole thing done at Campus Copy Center, but they wanted 45 bucks just to copy and cut the pages to size. Instead what I'm doing is printing off bit by bit (30-45 pages at a time) the planner at our work printer so I don't take up a whole queue. (Also I'm not sure how happy they would be if I printed off 500 pages at work, they can stomach it easier piece by piece). Then they have a comb binding machine that I have permission to use for free. So essentially I'm printing and binding the planner for free. Only labor I need to do is the cutting.

I often see others such as emergency room nurses, rabbis, doctors, and others using PDA's. Given the issues of battery replacement, planned obsolescence, subscriber fees, and the inevitable synchronization failures with PC's, I have to wonder whether the costs of electronic organizers outweigh performance boost. After all, whether electronic of paper, a tool is only as good as the person using it. Attentiveness is everything.

 

I'm a pre-nursing student now and purchasing a pda is highly recommended by the school. I think a drug reference comes in electronic format now so it's easier/cheaper to have a pda with updated information than a library of old drug reference books.

 

I've tried the electronic route but haven't liked it. My system right now is some notecards and a large squared moleskine. I used the hpda(diyplanner) idea for a while and may go back to that. I use the moleskine for thoughts worth saving and I use the cards for notes or todo items. I like having a notebook to write in so I would keep that even if I go back to an hpda.
