Replacement Converters for Targa Slim

Hello

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience of using the generic converters from a company called "Penconverter"?  I have found they do converters for many pens and am looking to purchase but as it would seem they are based in Portugal postage is quite pricey and long. (I am in the UK)

I will purchase one as a last resort if they are any good, but I can not find any reviews for them.

I have been searching ebay for one, but not sure they will be in the same condition as the one I already have.  It seems to leak into the barrel and I am not sure if its from the top (maybe the fit is getting loose), or the ink bag itself.

Thanks

this is the link to it... not really the style I like either but I guess I cant be choosy... https://www.penconverter.com/product/converter-for-vintage-sheaffer-slim-targas/

I’ve never tested their converter, mainly because it appears to be a standard push‑pull unit with a Jowo (also known as the “International” 2.4 mm) bore. A European, or so‑called International, cartridge can typically be fitted onto a Sheaffer feed nipple, provided the connector plastic offers sufficient flexibility. That seems to be exactly what’s being done here.

I have no experience with the converters shown in the link, which indeed seem (too) expensive.

I have some OEM converters for Targa slim or TRZ (both use the same converter or slim cartridge types), but not enough for all my Targa slim's and TRZ's; in those I reuse slim cartridges filled with ink with syringe and needle.

Before the Sheaffer service center in Ft Madison closed,  they were offering Monteverdi mini converters to use in the slim Targa.  They work, but the nipples tend to split and then won't take in ink.  I would use the Kawaco Sport mini converter.  Much better quality converters.  You may be able to get away with standard short international cartridges.  I don't know if a longer one will fit or not.

I have a slim Targa that takes the Kaweco Mini Squeeze Converter. I was advised to leave it on the pen to ensure that it doesn’t get misshapen somehow.

Ooh I have just seen some “slim cartridge ii” cartridges for sale. Do these fit the pen?  I may purchase some just in case and possibly look to get the converter I have repaired or rebagged?

Ah … so if I can get a TRZ would that converter fit my slim targa?

Yes, they take the same converters and cartridges, regards.

The TRZ and Fashion I barrels and caps fit the slim Targa nib as well, so if you want a powder blue, matte pink, or other Fashion I colored Targa, you can buy a Fashion (just the I, not the thicker sized II) and switch out the section.
