sey pen

As I have understood, seY pen doesn't produce anything by themselves but outsource the manufacture. Am I correct?

So, who makes their ebonite, pens and gold nibs?

The stainless steel nibs are Jowo, that is mentioned on their website. Gold nibs are available as F,M, and B. Is that Western FMBs or Japanese FMBs?

seYpen provides the design for most pens. Their artisans contribute some and modify some designs as needed. It is a collaborative effort.

If you have a copy of the most recent issue of PENNANT seYpen is featured and there is discussion how designs are created.

Not trying to be facetious, they must buy their pen blanks from wherever every one else does.

Is there somewhere else than Eboya in Japan? Not assuming that they buy in China.

And who is making their gold nibs?

I am not talking about the designs. I am more interested in the basics.

I have just yesterday ordered a seY pen directly off their website. I posted in the chat box, and after a little while my question, and subsequent questions were answered. They were very friendly and accomodating (a nibmeister will be grinding an 14k F into an EF for me, in Japan), and they will be at this year's pen show in the Netherlands.

I'm glad to hear this (about your order), since I haven't had a chance to see these pens in person (too bad I cannot be in Utrecht in June!) and have seen very little in the way of first-hand reviews. What kind of pen body did you order (if I may ask)?

@InkyProf I eventually chose the Chikurin-Sumie. There were a number of others I have also oggled, but in the end I decided upon the misty bamboo woods. I looked up what Sumie means, and apparently it's "ink painting", which fits this particular pen well I think.

Very nice! I like the delicacy and minimalism of the design. I am drawn to the "winter sparrow" myself... I hope you're pleased with it when it arrives!

Somehow the Winter Sparrow flew under my radar, it too looks fascinating. I also hope I will be pleased with my pen when it finally arrives, thank you.

I just looked at their site. They're all so exceptionally beautiful!

Looking to buy a Delta Chatterley Stantuffo Fusion Star Cage.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
