Inkebara - Sand

Ink Review # 228

---

🧾 Description

Inkebera is Czech company.

Sand is a legible tan with lovely shading. It’s sold as a dual shader. I didn’t notice any of it, until I hit it with water.

Like most colours in this hue, it lacks lubrication and is unpleasant with F nibs and below. It has a watery like quality and was unpleasant with the fude nib.

I believe it’s best suited for absorbent papers.

I had mishap with my sample, so I ran out of the ink with the flex nib, though in retrospect I’m glad I did.

This ink needs a soft and ideally wide nib to make it work. But when it works the colour is luminous. :)

 💬 Closing

Like most tans, this ink is very deficient in lubrication. For art work it was fun to use, as it captures well the golden sand of the Sahara.

No fountain pens were hurt in preparing this review. ;)

Please don’t hesitate to share your experience, writing samples, or any other comments — the more the merrier. :)

Yes, @yazeh, it does just look sandy when applied with pen, but oh that chroma!  And artwork!   Probably does best with a brush?

Love these Unobtainium reviews, many thanks.  👏🏻 😻 🖋

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Earth has the same chroma. It is slightly darker and available. :)

The first work was done with fountain pen and water-brush. The second was done with water brush only. :)

This one I think I can pass on.  I don't do enough drawing these days to make it worth it, and unless this is in a really broad/web nib it appears to be a little on the pale side for writing.  But thanks as usual for the comprehensive review and fun artwork.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

And it's out of stock for now. :)

It is legible but on the pale side. Earth is the darker version of this ink. I have a sample of this one. :)

Thanks, @yazeh!  Great selection of quotes, there.  Apparently I prefer Earth to Sand (which is fine - sand gets everywhere, like glitter ;) ).  But mostly, I prefer your drawings.  The first totally puts me in the Sahara (a feat first accomplished by various novels read in my teens), and the second is just plain adorable. :)  I hope you and your two sweethearts have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

The power of imagination and books. An art that is sadly overtaken by Social Media. :(

We will. I hope you and your boys enjoyed the day. I'm sure they fought to get hugs. 😺

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
