Agreed!

Of course I'm now curious as to what this year's SE Safari colors will be as well....

I've seen something on instagram "make your own lamy" but there was no list of countries where it is or will be available. In theory one could grab a section that fits better and then use it for pine or flamingo and gift the other pen with pine section and the rest of the "make your own".

It is probably should be a counterpart of kaweco's make your own sport.

The only trouble with Kaweco DIY pens is they have to come to a pen store near you. They have not for me. I have gotten over Lamy FOMO, but am intrigued by make your own if it’s more widely available than Kaweco DIY is. I saw their pens with the customizable section rings.

I've always wondered why they didn't finish the nibs to match the clip color. It always seemed odd to me to have everything else colored except the nib.... The ONE pierce of silver always strikes me as stark and jarring.

I would think that it is much less expensive to make steel nibs in just stainless steel and black coated stainless steel and use them them throughout all the pen lines than to make a limited number of matching colored nibs (and replacement/repair/alternate nibs) for the SE pens.  If the consumer would be willing to double (?) the price of the SE pens to have matching colored nibs than LAMY would probably consider it.
PS: Coating a clip (and having it still function properly as a clip) is far easier than coating a nib (and having it function properly as a nib).

I was a bit nervous about my first Safari, which had a black nib.  I'd started out with a cheapie Platinum Plaisir as one of my early purchases, and they used to come with nibs that matched the barrel and cap color.  Only in that pen's  case, the color was a coating that started flaking off when I was flushing the pen to change inks (the very wide metal cap band also was very cheesy looking in person -- it had looked nicer in the photos).  But discovered that for being roughly the same price back then?  The Safari was a WAAAAAY nicer pen, and I haven't had ANY issues with the black nibbed Safaris and al-Stars like I did with the one on the Plaisir.  And when I got last year's Dark Dusk SE Safari, I specifically ordered from Vanness Pens, because they would swap in other sizes of nibs from the "default" ones (and also black nibs) at no extra charge.

I suspect that in Lamy's case, it might not be cost effective to color the nibs (as well as the clips) to match the clip and/or barrel color -- especially for SE models.
