Pelikan M405 Stresemann- ink options

@Mercian thank you for the explanation. I know of a pen I could try it in to see how 4001 Blue Black works.

I don't think about it much, but my 1950's Pelikan 140 is always inked with Pelikan 4001 Blue Black. Outside of two fills early on, the 140 has had Pel BB continuously since August 2017 when the pen arrived. It's always inked. I just reinked it today. It is never empty for very long. 

 

Most of my Pelikans are steel nib pens, and I have noticed that those with gold nibs do seem to be a bit wetter than the steel nibs in the same size. 

 

M405 Stresseman currently is inked with Edelstein Star Ruby.

It has been. Although it was getting a bit low, so I flushed and changed to Edelstein Topaz tonight. Just trying all kinds of things.
