Imporium and 2000 Stainless Steel - How much plastic?

Hi all,

I've been tempted for a while by a Lamy Imporium fountain pen, but after reading many reviews, I found conflicting statements.

I know the pen is made of metal, but I read that the part at the end of the section, which one unscrews to reveal the filling system ("body threads" I read they're called -- see image) is made of plastic.

I even read that the entire section is made of plastic.

Can any owner of an Imporium shed some light here please? I have no option to test one in person sadly.

Also, regarding the 2000 in Stainless Steel: is the body simply made of the same material that the Makrolon version uses to house the nib and feed and that's the entire difference?

I mean the internals (the piston mechanism in particular) are the same as in the Makrolon version (i.e. made of plastic), like here?

Thank you and Happy New Year!

About the Lamy Imporium:  At first glance it was hard to tell, so I put the section in the freezer and it immediately became clear: the section with the rings is metal, probably aluminium.

Thank you, that's a bit of a surprise to be honest.

So you're saying that the section, including the back part that unscrews to see the c/c is metal?

About the 2000 SS, I found this clip that dissassembles it and the insides are plastic, basically identical to the makrolon version:

Re: Lamy Imporium, I found a video saying that the "body threads" are plastic.

Maybe there are multiple versions of the pen or maybe there's a plastic overlay and metal underneath?

See below, timestamp included (3.31).

No. I'm saying that the part of the section with the rings is metal. However, the part that unscrews, where the threads are, is plastic as you correctly stated, at least in the piece I have.

Thank you for the clarification.
