Diamine bottle sized holder and your new gadget

Diamine bottle sized holder. My wife spotted this at a shop that was closing down, so we got it dirt cheap €3.00 instead of €22. Today she picked up the other one.

Does anyone know any other ink company that made a Diamine small bottle size bottle.

The only other ink I have that fits is Indian Krishna inks. photo_download.gne?id=54921440984&secret

Bloody Mary in the background.

Pens in use. 1994 Pelikan 915 Hunter Toledo and a Pelikan for/or from Italy, 151.

I have one more Krishna ink bottle and have 11 empty spaces to fill up.

Krishna inks... (which were neither the shading or sheen monsters I'd hoped for) including the lonely one in the empty case.... Mumbai (maroon, brown/green sheen) Moonview (dark blue, red sheen) and Sea at Night (teal, silvery sheen).

Diamine inks. The China Blue (a bit paler than wanted) was just emptied into a Waterman bottle to give away to a neighboring noobie.

Chocolate Brown, Majestic Purple and Tobacco Sunburst.

Ultra Green a great little green-green shading ink, and my best by far, of my Diamine glitter inks Aurora Borealis.

I have five others of them that shade, one of the reasons I bought them, but they are, tilt to see glitter. Aurora Borealis is; look down and get it.

Diamine Ancient Copper was trashed because of the gunk build up. I only bought that after reading the gunk up problem was no more, but it was.

And what is your newest or best, fountain pen or ink gadget?

That's a neat little gadget!  Your wife has a good eye for stuff like that.

Thank you, she does at that, and I'd let her have the bad news before she bought the second gadget:o .... I" d have to fill it up with 12 Diamine bottles. ... And she bought it anyway.

Something to go ask which other Diamine inks are good or the best shaders.

Troublemaker ink bottles would fit that. They are taller than Diamine 30ml.

Thanks, as of yet, I don't know Troublemaker.

Which of them shade the most?

There's a seller on Ebay who makes (3D print) 'Ink Buddies' for Diamine 15ml, 30ml, Robert Oster and Ferris Wheel Press inks which stabilises bottles for filling. I imported the Diamine ones to the UK, and while quite expensive, like the Ink Miser they are sound investments.

@encremental -- Those definitely look interesting.

But also is making me think of the "hacks" I've used to stabilize sample vials when filling pens from them.  One is to get some sort of brass gadget (I think they're plumbing connectors of some sort -- that have have a tube attached to what looks like a a fairly thick hex nut).  The hex nut acts as a weight to stabilize the tube, which is just wide enough for a sample vial to fit in.

The other (which I'm still trying to figure out how to make them really work best) is to use the plastic clips that come on the spray bottles of some of my allergy medications (to keep the sprayer head on the cap from going off when not in use).  They're -- again -- about the same diameter to fit around a sample vial, and have a little piece that sticks out opposite to the opening of the curved parts, and I've collected a number of them over the years when the spray bottles are empty -- I just have to figure out what the best way to stack a couple of them up and and how to glue them together to make a stack of them a bit more stable since i don't know what adhesive would work the best.  I have a small ziplock bag full of the clips at this point, and they don't seem to be marked in such a way that I know whether they are recyclable, like the medication bottles are (around here, we can now only recycle plastic containers and jars that are labeled as being grade #1 or #2 inside a little triangle).

Even better, the guy who makes them is the son of Doug Rathbun - a.k.a. Inkquiring Minds!

Ruth - I know what you mean - it does seem as if all the things to make ink stabilizers should be already to hand. I used Blu-Tac for a while, though the Ink Buddies are better. And reluctantly I have actually bought both the Ferris Wheel Press 'ink carriages' for which I am probably bound for Fountain Pen Jail.

Would it not be a more practical solution to decant the ink from the 30 and 80ml bottles into something that has been designed with more thought such as Parker, Waterman, CdA or plenty of others?

Troublemaker is known for their chromashading inks. They are featured in the second section on this page:

I really like Abalone, I have it in a OM M400 at the moment. Petrichor and Milky Ocean are beautiful. Appleboom and Pure Pens sell them if you’re interested.

Am I the only one to use Lego-type blocks for bottle stabilization!

I used to use those, until I picked up a couple of these 3-D printed holders at the Detroit pen show:

They work really well, and are also cute enough to just leave out when not in use.

Toothbrush holders work well for vials. (Edit to say this one is from Daiso, not Ikea as I had it.)

Will work for pens...

Of COURSE you do!  :D

That is just too cool, BTW.  I think I need either one of those or the "sleeping cat" one now, to go with the "crab" pen holder I got from some table in the middle of the main room at OPS recently (mine has a little top hat that stays on it via magnets).

They are the coolest family, I love getting my penguins at the pen show! The company was started by the nicest child (probably a teenager by now) and all the siblings are fp users. The littlest ones looked at Peter Pan pens with me and showed me their Shark pens proudly.

I'll admit that I keep looking at the "Shark pens" (although have never actually gotten one).  Just for the amusement factor, as much as anything.

OTOH I *do* have a couple of Parker Vectors that are from their "Looney Toons" line -- "Sylvester the Cat" and one of the "Tasmanian Devil" designs (after buying the other design for a friend when she and her housemate lost everything in a fire a number of years ago -- including most of their cats), and the "Puss in Boots" pen from the "Shrek" series they put out (and if they'd done a "Fiona" pen I'd want that one as well...).

I might need to find some of these Vectors. All I have is one Tweety and Sylvester.

I need something to hold near-empty ink bottles for filling. I have used the "Ink Miser" without accidents, so far, but it does make me anxious about its stability. I found a maker on Etsy who is selling some good-looking products for this use. I've ordered a couple and will report.

The company name is "Tiltwell."

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
