Duck, duck, GOOSE!

Goose.jpg

INKTOBER52 PROMPT NO.47 IS “GOOSE”

This week’s Inktober 52 prompt is GOOSE, and honestly, it’s one of those prompts that can go in delightfully weird, whimsical, or wildly majestic directions, your choice! You could lean into the nostalgia of Mother Goose, letting classic nursery rhymes inspire soft, storybook-style illustrations. Or go full comedy with the classic silly goose, stumbling, honking, stealing snacks, wearing a hat it absolutely did not ask permission for… embrace the chaos! And we can’t forget the mighty Canadian goose, a creature capable of both elegant migration scenes and absolute park-dominance energy.

Whatever direction you choose, remember that Inktober is all about getting back to the basics. Simple lines, strong ideas, and letting your creativity flow without overthinking it. So grab your pen, loosen up, and let this goose prompt waddle, flap, or charge your imagination wherever it wants to go!

INKTOBER52 PROMPT NO.47 GOOSE

When they hear the nostalgic call of the geese flying south, Cat & mouse feel the silence in their soul; left to face the cold of the winter alone.

Taking a few steps back in order to go forward — the not-unexpected re-emergence of old prompts affords João and Dom Lobo new opportunities for avoidance, reinvention, and wordplay — starting with:

40 weave

In private, to relieve the monotony of official audiences, João resorted to mimicry.

“Lobo, ’ave I rightly himitated the hambassador?”

“Hindeed you ’ave, Majesty.”

“Hindeed WE ’ave, Lobo!”

I posted this in my Octopus Bunny Orange review:

A Sneaker sneaked in a sneaker....

I posted it already in my ink review. I managed to recuperate one of my drawing, by using IG ink.

Octopus W&D Bunny Orange, Tintenlabor Basalt, uni-ball Signo White, Talens Mixed Media Notebook.

Your Thanksgiving Zodiac Prompt

Sagittarius-prompt.jpg

INKTOBER52 PROMPT NO.48 IS “SAGITTARIUS”
It’s all about big energy, bold hearts, and wandering spirits. Sagittarius is the adventurer of the zodiac! The archer aiming high, chasing meaning, truth, and whatever might be glowing just over the next horizon. You could explore centaurs and constellations, fiery arrows and star maps, or capture the feeling of movement, freedom, and curiosity itself. Think open roads, night skies, and that restless spark that always wants to learn more and go farther.

And since today is Thanksgiving, it’s also the perfect moment to pause and appreciate something pretty special: art and creativity. We’re grateful for the way drawing helps us see the world differently, slow down, and connect to ourselves and each other. As you draw this week, remember that Inktober is about getting back to the basics: simple tools, honest lines, and making art for the joy of it. So aim high, stay curious, and let your creativity be something you’re thankful for today and every day.

41 heavy

Was it the weight of kingship or some other burden that made João feel so heavy?

Dom Lobo, who attributed the royal malaise to a surfeit of pastries, wisely held his tongue.

LOVE this!

I presume that you dropped a screenshot of the pen onto the drawing after carefully trimming it (or tweaking the photo with some sort of AI?  Because that's the only way I can figure out how to have it look three dimensional (with the fingers in the drawing around the actual pen).

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
