PIF: unbranded postwar Japanese aerometric filler

I was sent this pen as an unexpected extra with a purchase from a Japanese penmaker. As @stan (I think) suggested when I got it, it's probably from the earlier days of postwar production. It's a plastic pen with a functioning aerometric filler; the bottom half of the barrel unscrews to expose the back of the sac for easy filling. I've cleaned it up a little, which basically just involved removing the black cap jewel, cleaning its threads and the threads in the cap body, adjusting and polishing the clip. There was a tiny crack at the very top of the cap by the jewel threads; it's inconspicuous (and I positioned it under the clip when reassembling), but it might cause premature dryout, I suppose. It fills well enough to use and writes a dry but smooth .25mm line (tested with Waterman Serenity Blue).

It's objectively a nice enough little pen, and maybe of some historical interest, but it doesn't really do anything for me aesthetically, so If it would make you happy to have it, let me know and I'll send it to you.

I suspected it might find an appreciative audience here! (If it grabs you enough to grab it back, drop me a DM.)

Would, just can't cover post right now.

As my billfold opens there arises a creaky fluttery nearly dead fly not unlike the classic cartoons. *AKA I'm unemployed but always windowshopping (minus the transaction stage)*

The historical and aesthetic element of the pen are beautiful. An early postwar pen in good condition regardless of monetary value is fascinating to me.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
