I'm surprised...

There are inks with problems.

We need to know if we are willing to live with that problem. No Mister see, no evil; or I'm too polite to blat out the truth.

Some inks (and nibs) have a woolly line. That bugs me, there are many reviewers that don't know what a woolly lines is, or think that is normal. I see lots of ink reviews with woolly lines that are not even mentioned.

Of course, that could be paper. But if the reviewer don't see it in the first place, where are we to start to find out what else is wrong.

I discovered that I have to have Japanese papers, that I don't have, to see sheen.

And when I do see sheen, it's tilt to see, which is not a plus point by me. Same with faint to what glitter inks.

The LE Herbin Stormy Gray, is a good glitter ink, it should be, in it is almost black.

Diamine Arctic Blue is a good glitter ink; see sitting straight up, no need to tilt, and I have 4 others that were a waste of money.

Hmm… Pelikan needs a better photographer. The M805 IS a demonstrator!

Now that makes it a whole lot more interesting!!

shh... don't tell them it was me!

Beautiful pen.

Now that I know that the metal sleeve is translucent, I also like that one.

All beautiful pens.

But, alas, with the tariffs and weak dollar, I don't think i’ll be adding any of them.

Perhaps (if one were to ink it with Pelikan Edelstein 'Garnet') the ultimate pen for Sith Lords...?

Naw, I got too many black and gold Pelikans, to need one all black. Though there was that lurch to buy.

I just ran into Pelikan Jazz on Amazon, something I'd never heard of. FP&BP @ €44 give or take.

7 in the clean cup, 5 in the dirty cup.

A 400nn Tortoise, semi-flex started getting use.** I am enjoying the fine balance, and responsive nib. It stands out having both.

**I have three 400nn's (two tortoises....this year), and this is this one's first use.

Rotring Ultramarine is fat on this 400nn's EF nib.

The M800s are too big and heavy for me.  I was so happy when they brought out the M405 Stresemann a few years ago, after having done the M805 one -- and it was the ONE time in my life that I had a discretionary budget for whatever I wanted.  And saved money on it by getting it from Rolf Thiel's eBay store and then tossed the M405 Blue Black into the shopping cart at the same time.

And those are still -- by far -- my two most expensive pens....  I should think about inking one (or both) of them up for the Pelikan Hub coming up....

My wife went crazy for that photo (and pen).  She knows I've wanted a Pelikan m800 or m1000 for quite a while and thought that's the one I should get.  We've been talking about taking one more trip abroad before the end of the year and she just added Germany to the shortlist because of your post.  She thought that pen (sans tariffs) might make a great souvenir/Christmas gift.  Fingers crossed!

A Pelican 140 is a medium small pen, the Osmia 52 is smaller.

The nib shot vanished. Osmia small diamond semi-flex nib. Smaller than the Pelikan.

I have some picture learning to do, before I set my first and brand enough new Handy/phone in the light ring and stand. I couldn't get the chalk to be readable. A BB mdl # 52.

I have a 62, I'll check also against the Pelikan 140. Expect a match in size, in 62 is bigger than the 52.

1950 is the year Faber-Castel took over Osmia; Osmia and Faber-Castell were on the different sizes of the body. '51 they were on the same side.

I'm not sure if it was '53 or '54 When Faber Castell started erasing the Osmia from finial, and the clip. The Osmia diamond in the nib was last in the later half of the '50's.  So my guess is this is a 1951 pen.

It's a start, as soon as I get more comfortable, I'll be doing micro's of the nibs

.......................

:doh:Two sets of photos vanished, showing those two nibs and the nib and # 76 BCHR Osmia; maxi-semi-flex Large Diamond, Supra nib, (a real nice show off pen) from when the company hadn't been taken over.

German Christmas markets and a matte black Pelikan m809 does sound like a nice way to spend a week or so, doesn’t it?

You're exceedingly lucky!  My husband will NEVER buy me a pen for fear he'd get me the "wrong" one.  So I have to buy my own presents.  He totally freaked out when I got the 1990s era M400 Brown Tortoise (for a one time, very special occasion) because at that point that was the most money I'd EVER spent on a pen.  And I said, "No -- you don't understand!  NEW M400s cost WAAAAY more than this -- and this color isn't available anymore!"  And then when I got the M405 Stresemann and M405 Blue Black he saw what I meant....

Of course, then, a couple of years ago Pelikan went and made a liar out of me by re-releasing the Brown Tortoise.... :wallbash:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
