Help Identifying this Sheaffer pen...

Recommended Posts

I have three of these pens and cannot identify. I've found some similarities to the Imperial I Touchdown, but the clip wasn't the same. I've also felt they were a version of a School pen (I have some other pens that are definitely School pens).

Thanks,

Rodney

I think this model was called the Skripsert. Some sellers call it the

“Back to School” line to distinguish it from the other models in the Skripsert pen group.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

This Sheaffer cartridge pen with fingernail nib and flat-topped cap first appeared in mid-1959 and can be seen in various ads of that period (see for instance here), when it was presented as a back-to-school pen. But Sheaffer also marketed these pens as gift pens or advertising specials, where companies could have their name printed on the barrel. At some point in the early 1960s, the cap and clip were redesigned. The clip was shortened around 1963, and the flat cap surface became angled in circa 1964 (see top pen in this ad). So I would date your pen to 1959–62.
