I just ordered a new mattress.  They're painfully expensive (or the decent ones are, anyway).  Hopefully it proves worth it - my ancient one has been leaving me with a sore lower back (until I get up and get moving) for a couple years now - good for preventing me from lounging in bed, bad for a good night's sleep.  Oh the dilemma. ;)

That's the most important thing.  A good night sleep. Hope your bed is comfortable and you have a good pillow. ;)

Nope, has to be a treadmill - it forces you to keep walking.  As soon as the "rider" slows down / stops pedaling, a stationary bike is just an uncomfortable chair... :D  (Or you can get one that pedals for you, but that kind of defeats the purpose - may do some good, but not much.)

Or even better, the TV could be powered only if the person is "walking". :lticaptd:

Yes, I finally came to the same conclusion - I'm too negatively impacted by poor sleep, so it's worth the investment.  The mattress comes with new pillows (Labor Day "sale", you know).  We'll see how they are before I go shopping for others.

 Even better: ditch the TV, put subscription money in a retirement fund and go outside!  Or read a book.  Either one is far better!

Now what if change the recliner for a stationary bicycle. :D

Well, that won't help my husband -- he's got a bad knee.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've been there. 🙏

Yes.  Would that all good things were possible for everyone and that we knew how to balance them.  Still, we have reason to hope for better things. :)

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
