Growing number of pen users?

Recommended Posts

There are many brands of Chinese pens on the market, most of them competitively priced and with positive comments from some pen reviewers. I think good quality writing instruments at a good price should help popularise the use of fountain pens. In some countries, they teach students to write with fountain pens, so the availability of them at a good price level is quite understandable. This is not the case in many other places where they remain a status symbol or long-lasting things from the past. One fact that restricts the possibility for people to buy and try conveniently priced pens is the fact that there is a lack of official distribution and representative offices. Maybe the evaluation is completely wrong. What do you think?

I think part of it comes from the push towards "hi-tech".  When I was in high school (mid 1970s), maybe only a few kids in my class even knew how to USE a computer -- let alone have laptops and smart phones at home.  Now?  Every kid seems to have to have a laptop or tablet in order to "keep up" -- even in elementary school....

Plus they are not being taught how to write. They are missing out on the joy of writing, plus the additional learning that comes with writing.

Interesting article!  Thanks for posting the link.

There have been other posts in the past of studies that showed that students taking notes with a paper and pen or pencil also retained the information better.  But I have a friend who claims the opposite and has a Masters Degree in Education (of course I think she's ALSO admitted to having ADHD).
