"Hybrid Editions" at Peyton Street Pens

Thinking of ways to use new old stock nibs has long been our thing here at Peyton Street Pens.  Our first instinct is always to save nibs for restoration projects, but there's only so much demand for replacement nibs out there in the world.

These projects are all motivated and driven by our acquisition of high quality nibs. We started with the Ranga 4cs which was modified to accept Sheaffer Imperial nib units, and we've since then adapted Ranga's Abhimanyu and new Compact to use those nibs.

We recently acquired some new old stock Sheaffer Intrigue, Balance 2, and 14k Imperial nibs. Additionally, some Dupont and Cartier nibs came our way. We designed new pen models or adapted existing ones with our friends at Lotus Pens, in order to feature these excellent nibs in new settings.  Here are a few models we cooked up:

TACTICIAN for Sheaffer Intrigue nibs .... available in Nikko ebonite, cellulose acetate, and Conway Stewart materials....see our website.

PACIFICA for S T Dupont Liberte nibs ....available in Nikko ebonite, cellulose acetate, and Conway Stewart materials.... see our website.

CAMBRIA for Sheaffer Balance 2 and Connaisseur nibs .... available in Nikko ebonite (and coming soon in cellulose acetate and Conway Stewart materials) ... see our website.

OCELOTL for Cartier nibs ..... available in Nikko ebonite, cellulose acetate, and Conway Stewart materials.... see our website.

These nibs all deserve a second chance, and we hope this re-purposing hasn't offended any one 🙂

Those are gorgeous! I think that’s an excellent way to repurpose extra nibs. The materials look top notch, and I love all of the different styles.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, FWP Edwards Gardens

MontBlanc 310s F, mystery grey ink left in converter

Sheaffer Jr. Balance ebonized pearl F, Skrip Black

Pelikan M400 Blue striped OM, Troublemaker Abalone

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Thanks for your encouragement!  I never really appreciated the Sheaffer Intrigue nibs until I put one into one of the ebonite pens, and now it's my favorite.

This sounds amazing! I am certainly going to add at least one to my PSP wish list.

Gold nibs in pens that are competitively priced.

That's one of our main motivators. With 14k/18k nibs getting more expensive (JoWo 18k nibs at meisternibs.com just went from $125 to a whopping $200), if we are able to secure at least 20-30 of a given new old stock nib, creating a model with Lotus or Ranga makes sense and delivers value to the marketplace.

My Cambria just arrived and it is spectacular. The Lotus craftsmanship is flawless and the nib is a very good writer.

Thanks, Teri, for making this possible.

I ordered a Lotus pen that takes a Sheaffer Balance 2 nib but without the nib. I already have a few of these nibs, most ground to italic, on Connaisseur and Balance 2 pens. They are wonderful nibs and easy to swap among compatible pens. And I am very fond of many C-S resins, and Pistachio is one of my very favorites.

I've been thinking about getting a Lotus pen to try for some time. I couldn't resist this option (obviously).

Ranga pens are easily available in the US.  Lotus, not so much, so thank you for providing a source, with or without the nibs.

So glad you like it!  Lotus has really been wonderful to work with on these hybrid models, and it's inspirational to see the nibs get a second chance at life.

Darn.  The rosewood Cambria though pictured, is no listed.
