Hello,

I got a new macbook and a new digital camera (7 mgpixel). I am having trouble resizing the picture to be presentable on this forum. Any software recommendation or tricks you use? I will install gimp probably this week.

Thanks

What sort of imaging software are you trying to use? Almost any such program (even those that come with the camera) allow one to resize an image. It's just a matter of figuring out how to do it... :roflmho:

Hi, Are you aware that iPhoto is able to resize photos? I use it when I'm being lazy otherwise I use Photoshop. If photoshop is not in your budget try Photoshop Elements.

I have GIMP and GraphicConverter, but hardly ever use them for most things. I set my camera, a Leica Digilux I, to 640 X 480 than download to the Mac and in Preview do a Command/Shift/4 select only what I want to keep and than go to the Menubar and do a New from Clipboard, save as JPG. It seems to be working for me so far.

I am using MacOSX (10.4.10).

BTW-Doing it as above lets me resize the picture in Preview to the size I want, after taking into consideration clipping out what I actually want to post. If you don’t do the screen shot you end up with no resizing, in other words if you do everything within Preview. Using the screenshot (Control/Shift/4) lets me do a fast resize without having to do a lot of other stuff in other programs.

Oh Boy...

I have a lot to learn on my mac... I am one of the recent switcher (hasta la vista baby!). I was not aware that iphoto lets you resize. I haven't figured out where or how. Ok, I'll take a deeper look into this tonight. ( I have been uploading from home... and resizing from work for the latest pictures...)

Thanks for the input.

Resizing with iPhoto.

select the image/images you want to resize then go to the menu bar / File menu / and select Export from the list. The next window which opens up has all the goodies your looking for.

Enjoy your mac.

EDIT - this is all done with the iPhoto application of course and with the images loaded into iPhoto.

Thanks! wow, that is pretty easy. Uploaded a bunch of photos on the marketplace! I never use import and export function of software normally.

Woohoo! At last....

Get Imagewell and register it. This allows batch conversion. Just drag a load of pics from iPhoto onto ImageWell and choose the size that you want and the destination and you will end up with nicely resized pics.

Also download FileList. This allows batch renaming of pics. Very useful.

Glad to see that you have left the dark side! I made the move 2 years ago and wish that I had done it sooner.

Hi Cloud

Hey I have a powerbook and a lumix 8MPix, I use graphic converter, its included on the mac, you can have “free” upgrades, and you have short-cuts for re-size picts. I find it quite convenient, I think it also can read RAW files from a lot of manufacturers.

Also if you want just to low the size of the file without re-size you can just use the Preview software in your mac, save-as and just drop the quality (and size) of the pict.

Cheers

Ricardo

Hi Cloud,

I'm a new Mac user too, and I received a Macbook Pro for my bachelor from my dad. I suggest you to use iPhoto 7 (included in iLife 08 already installed on your mac). In windows I used ACDSee and now I think iPhoto is a for digital pics also because it modify the pics manteining the originals, like aperture.

In iPhoto I use export feature. Do some tests to see the results for quality and dimensions combinations.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
