How do you use your Pilot Red Ink?

Paganini

Recommended Posts

So I have those giant coke bottles of Pilot ink. For the Black, Blue, and Blue-black, I have the Namiki bottles (50cc, or something like that) to refill. But what do you guys do with the red? Other than the giant bottle, it seems to be only available in cartridges. Right now I just dumped some into a spare LAMY bottle I had laying around, but that's kind of unsatisfying.

Pilot red ink is available in both 350 ml and 30 ml bottles. The smaller bottles are readily found on Asian websites such as AliExpress, as well as on Western platforms like Amazon, among others. Many vendors that offer ink samples also sell empty bottles, making it easy to decant ink. Vintage Pilot bottles can often be found on eBay, and you might also consider using an inkwell—either vintage or new—for your ink storage needs. In short, there is no shortage of options when it comes to finding containers for your Pilot red ink.

[OT] Hmm, these 350 ml... receptacles look deceptively similar to soda bottles. Maybe so they can be easily dispensed from the -ubiquitous- 自販機 (vending machines) in Japan 🙃

With Pilot Red being a vigorous stainer, I'm glad I only have a sample.  But it sheens, so I use a dip pen.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

It's a strange ink. Sometimes I think it's pnk, sometimes I think it's orange. It never really looks what I think of as *RED.* Sometimes it's perfectly well-behaved and then, on the *SAME PIECE OF PAPER* there will be a few letters where it goes feather mad.

Yes, I see it as a coral-pink.  Not red.
