(Claimed) Copper Esterbrook SJ to a good home

Recommended Posts

Claimed!

I have a very nice copper Esterbrook SJ, purchased for not much on the assumption that it was unrestored, but when I opened it up to replace the sac, I found that it already had what appeared to be a new sac installed, so I talc'd it, reassembled it, and tested it; it seems to work fine. But I've decided to focus my Esterbrook attention elsewhere, so if you'd like it, I'll gladly send it to you. I can send it with a firm extra fine (9550), firm fine (2556), or firm medium (2668) nib; just let me know your preference. First to claim it here gets it (my only request is that you not claim it if you only intend to sell it). Happy writing!

Thanks.  I have a small collection of Esterbrooks, but not that color.  I would LOVE it with the medium nib!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I haven't been on FPN network much lately. So nice to see your awesome giveaway, @InkyProf! Glad it found a new home. The Pay it Forward thread used to be really active; it was sad when things were curtailed. Thanks for making it a fun place again. :)

Why thanks, @goodpens! I'm a newcomer around here, but I've benefited so much already from the collective wisdom of this place (without necessarily having a ton of expertise of my own to share) that this seemed like a good way to give back.

Welcome! The fountain pen crew is a great community.

Agreed.

I got a pen once in a PiF where the person actually had it as a contest (coming up with a funny caption for a photo, which people then voted for).  I didn't actually want the top prize -- I wanted one of the "runner up" prizes for a friend because she had gotten a gag gift for me (a Pelikan M200 with the Bayer Asprin logo on it) on Freecycle (not realizing what the pen was probably worth) and the runner up prize was an Inoxcrom pen with the design being the "Tintin" comics (my friend is half  Spanish, and a HUGE fan of the comic -- so a Spanish brand pen with that as the design?  And I saw it and thought, "Oh,  she SOOOOO needs that!"

Of course, it's probably lost in her house, but she still needed it.... :D

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
