I hope that your car is kept under cover!

:) My car lives in the garage, fully enclosed.

When you get a large 'murmuration' roosting near you, the dinosaurs in it can all decide to 'bomb' all the cars in the neighbourhood.

Guano can rot through car paint.

Duly noted.  (I've never understood why people with garages use them for things other than their cars, but it's extremely common.)

A few years ago there was a persistent murmuration that roosted in a village a few miles from me.
The effects on the locals' cars and houses (and washing drying on lines) were enough that it even made the regional (six English counties) TV news show.

:) My dryer is in the basement - that would have to be some seriously aggressive guano to reach my drying clothes... ;) :P

Maybe I should call the roofing company and see if their shingle warranty covers murmurations... :D  It is fun when they all go running around on the roof.  The kitties stare intently at the ceiling...

To my eye, this ink looks like a slightly more-'purple' (or less-'red') R&K Scabiosa

Check te photo stream, you'll see a side by side photo of Scabiosa and Purple Black 1 not the same colour.

Then again, I am basing that impression on the initial colour of Scabiosa on the page; as it darkens it turns to a lovely (IMO) shade of purple :)
And then starts to turn (slowly) more-grey.

I can't really say, I haven't used Scabiosa in a long time.

I would be interested to see a sequence of 'time lapse' (for want of a better description) pictures of writing samples done with this ink.
At e.g. 'just-written'; one-day old; three-days old; and at one week old; two weeks old; and three weeks old.

It is my understanding that this process is dependent on the type of paper, wetness, nib size, etc. For eEx an Ef nib is dark purple vs a fude or stub nib is paler.  I'll post my review hopefully this weekend, but the photos are already uploaded.

But who the ecky-thump would have the time to keep on revisiting old writing samples to re-scan them?

I can put a reminder :)

I know that e.g. both of you who I have quoted here already have more-than-enough to do with your schedule of creating reviews of other inks.
So I am not asking that either of you do this!

I share your bewilderment.  One half of our garage has space for my car.  But my better half apparently prefers scraping ice and snow off his car all winter to clearing the "stuff" from the other half of the garage.

And thanks for the review--that's a beautiful colour!  I don't want an iron gall ink, and I'm still almost tempted to get a sample. :)

Took me some time to get the reference. You shouldn't make the cat work too much :D

  • 3 weeks later...

This looks like a really nice colour, and with the IG component useful as an at-work ink. A bit confusing that there are two versions of the ink - which both look nice. I think the paler number 1 is a nice choice for journaling, and that the darker number 2 would work great in a pocket pen at work.

Thanks for showing this one!

The difference is in the iron content, price, and tone. :)  Purple 1 has 3 gr/l iron content, high dye, Purple 2 has 4 gr/l iron, low dye.

Because this is a unique stabilizing dye, the oxidation process is slow; possibly, both inks have a longer shelf life.

As Purple 1 has a high dye content, the price is higher.

Hope it explains it all.

As @yazeh said - the different series are for different concentrations of iron.  Next Tuesday will be the final in this series, and then after about a month I'll be posting some from the new formulation that flow better, including some I haven't reviewed before.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
