Kokuyo vs Maruman loose leaf

Recommended Posts

I typically recommend to buy Maruman loose leaf paper. I guess the photo below says enough - Kokuyo on the left, Maruman on the right.

Kokuyo written with a very fine Jinhao EF nib, Maruman with a much broader Jowo EF nib. Both pens are filled with Waterman Serenity Blue.

The Kokuyo paper is from Kokuyo binders and I assume they used such cheap paper that they even didn't want to write Kokuyo on it.

I am sure that they have somewhere better loose leaf paper. But I am not interested in searching for a hypothetical better Kokuyo paper because Maruman is cheaper where I buy it.

Kokuyo  👎  Maruman  👍

I was recently gifted some Maruman (thanks , @Mechanical!) in a few different formats and I was very pleased with it. I have a Mnemosyne notebook I bought from a local bookstore and I like it ok. I saw that they also make paper in pastel colors and I really like that.

Maruman is recently exhibiting at several US penshows. Check them out if you have the opportunity.
